Quickly? 15-20 years from discovery to approval is quite normal. And no nothing to do with it.

DC Arch public comments are now open. As much as many of us would like to simply submit “FDT,” comments are far more likely to be considered if they raise specific concerns about the project. Federal agencies are only required to consider substantive comments,

When you call a nation a strategic partner, while it treats dissent as treason, you’re not just compromising your values — you’re compromising your judgment. At some point, you have to ask yourself what exactly you’re partnering with. After all, they were the ones pushing for the strike on Iran.

So let me get this straight: a regime that represses its own people gets attacked by a country with a genocide on its résumé, teamed up with another country that happily brutalizes both foreigners and citizens, all because they’re worried the first regime might want the same nuclear toys they have

Imo, he doesn’t need to do any of these things. There is no way he won all swing states last time, hence they know of a way to manipulate the results without having to resort to the scenarios you describe.

IMO, the system is the problem, not the companies as such. And many Americans prefer lower taxes even if it means higher healthcare costs, while many European countries fund cheaper care through 30–40% income taxes. You can’t have both low taxes and low healthcare prices, unfortunately

FDA nowadays can’t be trusted anymore, and the FDA had no regulatory authority over tobacco until 2009, as it wasn’t a drug.
100
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
As I mentioned before, that’s a failure of the U.S. pricing system, not something inherent to the drug itself. It doesn’t change the fact that Novo reinvests a large share of its profits into R&D and funds basic research globally.
110
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
US lobbying power affects pricing laws, patent protections, Medicare negotiation rules, and regulatory burdens. It does not mean companies can simply “buy” drug approvals or suppress safety data within the FDA process. The influence is structural and political, not an override of scientific review.
100
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
That’s not how FDA approval works. this whole thread started with Wegovy, a drug developed in Denmark, where pharmaceutical companies don’t lobby their government the way U.S. companies do. The idea that lobbying somehow guarantees profit while suppressing inconvenient studies doesn’t match reality

I’m done. It’s impossible to have a real discussion with someone who’s so sure of their opinion yet doesn’t grasp the complexity of the topic.

the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
It seems the conversation shifted from facts to personal remarks. I have been working in drug discovery for a long time, while based on your remarks, you clearly have not, so there is nothing left to debate.

the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
You talked about having a 2 sec search, not me. Btw Novo Nordisk does not get publicly funded grants for doing commercial R&D. They may be co-applicants on academic projects about basic research, but that is something different.

You’re arguing from assumptions, not how the industry actually works.
000
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
A for‑profit company isn’t going to sell at a loss, but it’s inaccurate to claim “the rest is cheap once the drug is developed.” For many modern medicines, manufacturing, scaling, compliance, and maintaining dedicated production lines remain major ongoing costs, not negligible ones.
000
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
Manufacturing costs aren’t one‑size‑fits‑all. Some are cheap, but many aren’t — eg biologics, sterile injectables, and anything requiring living systems or ultra‑tight quality controls. Infrastructure is also drug‑specific: different products need different facilities, equipment, and validation
100
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
this doesn‘t prove the entire pharmaceutical industry only wants profit, but shows how a specific U.S. market structure failed. It doesn’t reflect how R&D works, where companies spend billions on candidates that never reach approval and rely on a few successes to fund the many failures.
110
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
2-And even for the few that make it through approval, the costs of large‑scale manufacturing, validation, and distribution aren’t included in that comparison at all, so the figure ends up being misleading.
100
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
1-Hard to argue from that figure alone as it treats all “basic research” as if it were equally relevant, whereas the majority never produces anything that can become a drug candidate. Only a tiny fraction ever reaches preclinical development, and most of those fail before or during clinical trials.
100
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
What I quickly could find is that Eli Lilly‘s 2025 R&D budget is larger than either its 2024 net income or operating cash flow, meaning that the company is willing to spend more than last year’s profit or cash flow on R&D, which is the opposite of the “they just enrich themselves” narrative.
100
the Coup Chronicle @redargutor.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
No. Translating publicly funded basic findings into actual, safe, scalable drugs is an enormous, high‑risk, and very expensive effort. Most candidates fail long before they reach patients, and those late‑stage trials, manufacturing build‑outs, and regulatory hurdles are all financed by companies
