if you love a strong short story/novella that is perfectly paced without feeling too thin, if you enjoy writing that is lyrical and enchanting and strange, and full of riddles, and you also love a good murder ballad revenge story, THE RIVER HAS ROOTS by Amal El-Mohtar is absolutely for you.

name an author who has yet to let you down. for me that would be Alix E. Harrow. she has been so consistently my type and I love that for me because I am a picky b. she recently announced her sad lady knight book, THE EVERLASTING, which is coming out this fall and I can’t WAIT.

DAUGHTER OF THE FOREST by Juliet Marillier is my favourite book of all time. really the entire Sevenwaters trilogy (so don’t just stop here!) because it is a generational story that weaves one into the next, and they are each so special and magical and heartbreaking and lovely.
DAUGHTER OF THE FOREST by Juliet Marillier sits on a brown lazy susan next to pink flowers with a green fabric background; text reads "favourite of all time'"
