Reclaim The Flag

Because optics are important. Because the way to overcome their "othering" tactics is by rallying behind the one symbol they can not misinterpret, manipulate, or take away. Remind them and ourselves that we are stronger TOGETHER.

I think there's a loud, endearingly-obnoxious, CAW-CAW EAGLE SCREECH M*THERFUCKER Patriotic Sleeper Agent inside of all of us and we need to activate it in each other. There's no way this regime can survive a united America and they know it. Their success relies on our division and they KNOW IT.

Found this linked elsewhere and came on just to share it! Both the substack + the document it links to are essential reading if you want to know what we are really facing.

Here's the ad that The WaPo refused to publish. Would be a shame if a whole bunch of people spread it around, anyways.

Has anyone considered that they tried to make us fear a second Civil War so we wouldn't start a Second Revolutionary War, instead?

I think we all need to get very loudly patriotic and drag the United States, kicking and screaming, back towards something we can all be proud of. Americans are known in other countries as being "loud," so let's be LOUD. I bet we can out-scream the other side.

Can we blow this up? 😉

Modified lyrics to the song "Phony King of England" from Robin Hood (1973).

The world will sing of a U.S. "King"

1000 years from now!

And all because he broke the laws

And had that orange brow.

While the Heritage folks ran rampant

with the New Crusade they're on,

We all had to slave away for that

Good-for-nothing Don!

Incredible as he is inept,

Whenever the history books are kept

They'll CALL him the PHONY King of America!

I've seen a lot of support in various areas for some kind of "reclaim the flag" movement. I think the flag is something that EVERYONE can rally behind. We should make it a thing, a way to protest and declare our resistance outside of large organized events!

Large white text that reads "RECLAIM THE FLAG" on a blue banner, with a symbol of the American flag.

The text reads:

Why the flag?

They create division by "othering" us. It's important to remind each other that, while our differences make us strong, our unity makes us stronger. One nation, indivisible.

Outside of large protest events, having a symbol (ie. the flag) to flood the optics with can be a great way to bring unity and a reminder that WE are Americans, and we fight for and beside each other towards the SAME ultimate goal.

AOC guided us to "do what we can." If all we can do is display the flag as a unifying symbol, then we should! Wear it on a pin, or keep a mini at your desk. The flag has been used as a tool to sew hatred and division but it's JUST as powerful a tool for those who believe in lifting each other up.

I believe very strongly in symbols and how they can empower and unite people. At a time when we're being wedged apart, I think our flag can be a powerful tool: a visual reminder to EVERYONE that we are all Americans, and we all deserve a country that fights for us and with us.

Image of a banner with a blue background and "RECLAIM THE FLAG" on it, with an image of the American flag.

Text beneath it reads:

Just the flag.

They perpetuate hate and division by hiding behind our nation's symbols.

Let them hide behind the flag.

Let us rally behind it.
