With 50 days until the midterms, I urge you all to: 1) Help get out the vote. 2) Protect our electoral machinery from interference. 3) Not succumb to complacency, defeatism, or cynicism. We are the only ones who can end this nightmare. We are the leaders we’ve been waiting for.

Working on something simple as I wait to start PT to resolve my tendon issues. This cloud-like confection is the Louvre Sweater by Petite Knits, featuring Marianthi Sock yarn in Flicker with two strands of Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair in Rainy Day. It is slow going, but progress is progress.🧶
A partially completed grey sweater lies on a warm wooden floor, glowing softly in natural sunlight. The piece is the Louvre Sweater by Petite Knit, worked in a haloed, cloud-like fabric that shimmers faintly. The yarn—a combination of Marianthi Sock in Flicker and two strands of Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair in Rainy Day—creates a silvery grey base with delicate flecks of pink, blue, yellow, and green. The high ribbed collar and raglan shaping are visible, with stitches resting on circular needles. Two soft, airy mohair balls and a speckled yarn cake sit nearby, hinting at the luxurious texture and lightness of the knit in progress. #knitknitknit #strikstrikstrik #strik #tricopathe #knittingismyyoga #handknit #knittinginspiration #slowfashion #ravelrypattern #craftiverse #yarn #wool #yarnaddict #knitwear #knit #knittting #thacktastic #pullover #sweater #handknitsweater #handknits #jumper #bex_knits2025 #knitsky #craftsky A person models a partially completed Louvre Sweater by Petite Knit, showing progress on the soft, silvery-grey fabric. I just ordered a new skein of Vermont Vice to finish the sleeve -- and the collar? What do you think about the collar? Yes or no? The new skein is overk*ll; I'm being super picky about matching colors, which is what makes this work. 🧶 www.ravelry.com/projects/Reb...
A nearly finished Minna No Sweater hangs on a wooden hanger against a white door. The sweater body is knit in Junction Fiber Mill’s Teal With It colorway, worked in smooth stockinette with raglan shaping. Both sleeves are complete, showcasing the Vermont Vice gradient, which shifts from teal into rusty orange and then into vibrant fuchsia at the cuffs. Loose yarn ends dangle from the unfinished hem, and a stitch marker is clipped to the right side. One sleeve cuff still has yarn attached, highlighting the color-matching process. The overall effect emphasizes the striking transition between solid teal and the bold variegated yarn, where the maker is carefully aligning shades for a seamless look.

Smoke from the Canadian fires is bad again today. Heading to Maine to escape. Oh - and see why lawns suck and native fields are better? Especially during a drought? I vow to continue to expand our native field (which gets mowed once a year by a local farmer for his livestock).
A hazy summer landscape in Massachusetts, blanketed in smoke from Canadian wildfires. In the foreground, a patchy lawn with a checkerboard pattern of dried grass stretches toward a lush green field. Beyond the field, a dense tree line marks the start of a forest that fades into the distance. The entire background is shrouded in a thick, grayish-white haze that dulls the horizon and mutes the colors of the sky, indicating poor air quality. The sun is obscured behind the smoke, casting a dim, diffuse light over the scene. In the lower right corner, a bird feeder pole with multiple feeders is visible, slightly silhouetted against the haze. #wildfire #canadianwildfires #canadaisonfire #canadianfires #mawx #massairquality #MAairquality #growingwisdom #bostonwx #grasssucks #madrought #killyourlawn #homegrownnationalpark #nativeplants #garden #gardening #gardens #massachusetts #middlesexma #middlesex

The Florence Sweater in progress, hanging on a wooden hanger in front of a paneled white door. This image captures yesterday’s progress for the Rhinebeck KAL hosted by Junction Fiber Mill. The circular yoke features intricate stranded colorwork in a glowing leaf motif. The main color is a rich blue (Roots LITE in Blueberry). While the contrast color (Making Tracks LITE in Carnival) shifts dramatically from soft peach and pinks to saturated reds, magentas, and fiery oranges. The neckline is finished with a ribbed collar, and sleeve stitches are now held on bright green and yellow holders with colorful barber cord dangling below, marking the recent division for sleeves. Wrapped up my morning No Kings protest and am about to head out to an evening one. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
Alt text: A handmade protest sign on a black poster board reads “KEEP ORANGE STAINS OFF THE CONSTITUTION.” The words are written in bold capital letters using different colors: “KEEP” and “OFF THE” are in blue, “ORANGE STAINS” is in orange, and “CONSTITUTION” is in silver. The sign is lying on a couch with blue and green cushions behind it. The message is a humorous and pointed political statement, referencing the U.S. Constitution and expressing opposition to a specific political figure who is orange and resembles a cheeto or an oompa-loompa depending on the tanning bed.

The yoke of the Azucena sweater by Nadia Crétin-Léchenne, knit in La Bien Aimée Corrie Worsted (Kitsune, Sandstone, Goldenrod, and Hegelia). I’m making it for my father-in-law’s 83rd birthday, with a few tweaks for a more masculine, boxy fit. 🧶 www.ravelry.com/projects/Reb...
A circular, pinned-out colorwork yoke of a handknit sweater in progress, shown laid flat on blocking mats. The design is lightly adapted from the Azucena sweater pattern by Nadia Crétin-Léchenne and is knit using La Bien Aimée Corrie Worsted yarn in the colors Kitsune (a rich rust), Sandstone (a warm beige), Goldenrod (a vibrant yellow), and Hegelia (a pale, icy blue). The yoke features concentric bands of intricate stranded colorwork with a raised neckline and extra solid space before the start of the motifs, modified to create a more masculine look. The sweater is being custom knit as a birthday gift for the knitter’s 83-year-old father-in-law, with further planned modifications for a boxier body and straighter sleeves for comfort and ease of wear. The fabric is smooth and even, knit on US size 6 needles, showcasing the crispness and tonal depth of the yarns. #knitting #knit #knitter #knitsky #craftiverse #yarn #wool #sweater #fiberart #fiber #worsted #earthtone #labienaimee #azcunaClose-up view of the colorwork yoke of a handknit sweater in progress, highlighting the intricate stranded knitting and crisp stitch definition. The yarn used is La Bien Aimée Corrie Worsted in Kitsune, Sandstone, Goldenrod, and Hegelia—richly dyed hues that contrast and complement each other beautifully. The modified neckline sits higher than in the original Azucena's sweater pattern by Nadia Crétin-Léchenne, and additional plain rounds were added before the start of the colorwork to create a more traditionally masculine silhouette. The smooth stockinette and symmetrical geometric motifs are knit on US size 6 needles, forming a dense but flexible fabric. This sweater is being lovingly knit as a custom birthday gift for the knitter’s 83-year-old father-in-law.

It’s blocking day at my house—and the knitwear lineup is 🧶 Mine Sweater @greyowlknits.bsky.social Lowell Sweater @subitofarm.bsky.social Studio Sweater (by Ysolda Teague), using my hand-dyed yarn www.ravelry.com/projects/Reb... for more info!
A freshly blocked Mine sweater, designed by Grey Owl Knits, laid flat on a blocking mat. The sweater features a bold colorwork yoke with repeating puffin motifs in black, white, and yellow on a light gray background. Below the yoke is a band of yellow flower-like shapes, followed by a body knit in horizontal stripes of teal, cream, charcoal gray, and yellow. A striking puffin and wave motif adorns the bottom hem, above a decorative colorwork border. The yarn used is Madelinetosh DK, giving the fabric a soft, saturated appearance. #knitsky #fiberart #knitting #sweater #yarn #wool #craftiverse #madelinetosh #greyowlknits #strikke #seagullA close-up of the lower hem of the Mine sweater, showing detailed colorwork in Madelinetosh DK yarn. The design features a puffin motif in cream, black, and gray, with a bright yellow beak. Behind the puffin, the word “Mine” is subtly worked into the dark background. Below the puffin, a band of teal ribbing anchors a cheerful border of yellow flowers and teal stems, adding a vibrant contrast to the grayscale pattern above. The stitches are even and crisp, highlighting the intricate intarsia and stranded knitting techniques used.A finished Lowell Sweater laid flat on a blocking mat, knit as a graduation gift. The sweater features a fitted silhouette with long sleeves and ribbing at the cuffs, hem, and neckline. The body is a heathered charcoal gray, while the circular yoke showcases a striking, multicolored lattice pattern in jewel tones—reds, teals, greens, and golds—worked against the dark background. The pattern and yarn are both from Subito Farm in Carlisle, Massachusetts, making this a meaningful, locally sourced handmade garment. #knitlocalA hand-knit Studio Sweater by Ysolda Teague, laid flat on a towel for blocking. The sweater features long sleeves, a relaxed fit, and ribbing at the cuffs, hem, and neckline. The yarn, dyed by the maker through the Nashoba Valley Knitting Guild, showcases rich variegated stripes in purples, pinks, teals, and blues, creating a vibrant and uniquely personal fabric. The color transitions flow organically, highlighting the hand-dyed quality and individuality of the yarn. #handdyed #indiedyer

Since getting our shittens, we've discovered a menagerie in the basement. We weren't surprised that there were mice. Then, Rum cornered a vole. This morning, Rye proudly brought me a snake. I think we need to do some work to seal up the house!
Rye, a sleek tabby cat with white paws and chest, lounges confidently on a sunlit brown chair, her green eyes alert and proud. She looks directly at the camera, radiating satisfaction after catching and disposing of a snake from the basement. #cat #caturday #tabby #catsofbluesky #catskyA small garter snake lies lifeless on a light wood floor, its body slightly curved with visible bite marks and a damaged head. A hint of a cat’s dark paw is visible at the bottom edge, marking the aftermath of Rye’s successful basement hunt.

Headed out for a long weekend, so naturally the first thing I packed was… all ten skeins of yarn. Clothes? Toothbrush? Eh, I’ll grab them eventually. Knitters know: it’s not overpacking if it’s yarn—you might need it. 🧶
A yarn winding setup is spread out across a kitchen island with a granite countertop. A burgundy skein is stretched on a wooden swift, feeding yarn to a white and green ball winder that’s mid-spin. Several completed yarn cakes in burgundy and one in a taupe-gray shade are stacked nearby, along with an empty yarn label. Two gray chairs and a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances are visible in the background. The scene suggests preparation for a long weekend of knitting. #knitting #knittersofbluesky #knitsky #fiberart #yarn #wool #cascade220 #aran #knit

Current knitting status: delayed due to tabby interference. Rye has claimed my chest as her throne, while Rum is snoozing soundly in top of my project bag. Yarn? Inaccessible. Needles? Trapped. Productivity? Purring. 🧶 #KnittingWithCats #CatObstacles #RumAndRye #YarnGuardians #TabbyTakeover
A cozy indoor scene featuring two brown tabby cats. One cat, Rye, is lying on a person’s chest, staring intently at the camera with half-lidded eyes. The person is wearing a blue shirt and has a colorful purple and blue knitting project resting on their lap. The second cat, Rum, is curled up and fast asleep inside an open brown leather project bag filled with yarn and knitting supplies. The background shows a comfy living room with a blue armchair, a footstool, and a TV console. Sunlight streams through the window, casting a peaceful glow over the space. #craftiverse #yarnsky #knit #knitting #fiber #handdyed #indiedyer #wool #cats #caturday #fiberart

Omg, I am now going to be totally obsessed with dying my own yarn. This was so much fun! 🧶
A person is hand-dyeing yarn using a pan-dyeing technique. The yarn hangs over the edge of an aluminum tray, transitioning from deep teal at the bottom to navy and then to rich berry purple at the top. The person, wearing gloves and a bracelet, is partially visible as they work at a table covered with a plastic tablecloth. A red-and-white checkered pattern is faintly visible in the background. #yarn

When your bird feeder attacks but you refuse to let it ruffle your stitches. Currently knitting through the pain (and the suspense) in Urgent Care waiting to find out if my foot is broken (don’t think it is). Fortunately, the Lowell Sweater is coming along beautifully. 🧶
A person sits in a medical exam room, knitting the Lowell Sweater by Subito Farm Designs, which features colorful yoke detailing on a dark blue background. Their bare foot rests on a stool with a carrot-patterned ice pack on top, suggesting an injury. The caption hints at waiting to learn whether a bird feeder that fell on their foot caused a fracture. The scene blends calm crafting with a moment of uncertainty. #knittersofbluesky #lowellsweater #subitofarmdesigns #craftingthroughchaos #thisisfine #knitflixandwait #craftsky #knitsky #knitting #yarn

I wonder what will be on the syllabus: For Whom the Horn Honks? The Great Gas-by? The Old Rig and the Sea? Of Mice and Minivans? Lord of the Rigs? To Haul a Mockingbird? As I Lay Loading? East of Exhaust?
