Wow! Nearly 300 queries in about 31 hours! I may have cheated just a bit and started reviewing early so I could sneak a few in over 250. But I have to acknowledge why I have my limits in place - to make sure I can get through everything timely and with due attention.

World building imo is creating a foundational system (shallow or deep) for a narrative that has some internal consistency. This is primarily achieved by thinking of it as a series of connections & relationships between nodes in which nodes may be objects, places, characters, cultural touchstones etc

HOWEVER this does not mean that the world should be window dressing. It should feel lived in. Whole. Comprehensive. If the transit or magic or relationships don't feel 3 dimensional, a reader will feel it. Build as much as you need for it to feel whole, to feel *real*. And your readers will buy in.

To me, there are two key things about worldbuilding: 1) Believability 2) Internal consistency Things need to make sense while you're reading, for buy in. This is as true in a modern romance as a secondary world epic fantasy. This does not mean you need to go into great detail about every piece

I meant more like...business woman returns home only to decide to stay for a burly guy who chops wood. There is nothing wrong with that kind of Hallmark romances, but it's not usually going to be for me. Just bc I'm not excited doesn't mean a for sure *no* - just a harder sell. More things in place
