Though, I'm not saying commercialization shouldn't be blamed. But I'd like to go further than that, and trace what happens to how research is valued.

A soomewhat too-short summary: I'd gotten tired of "commercialization" being the explanation for everything that goes wrong in academic publishing. Callon's work led me to ask some more interesting questions.

Now sharing what I took from my own reading week of Michel Callon instead of making to his tribute seminar. I wrote some notes on how I came to read him, and why his work has been (and still is) useful for my research on paper mills: tinkering-research.pikapod.net/callon-readi...

2. My speculation is that journals that run fast track might be using it, but related to the first point, I also can imagine there could be multiple layers of intransparency that editors or even publishers might not know that their reviews are sourced from this pool...

1. They seem to be putting efforts into meeting qualifications regarding these paid reviewers and also do seem to care about quality. But then, why not be transparent?

My reflection on the dumbest moment of 2026. I was supposed to be in Paris last Tue for the tribute workshop of Callon, but wasn't. Still managed to make good use of my time by focusing on his work, but also hoping some could share their summaries..! tinkering-research.pikapod.net/my-dumbest-m...

Wow, congrats! I didn't expect the book to be translated into Korean, but this is really great news!

Big congrats! I wish I could have been there too. I also heard that you handled tough questions really well. Looking forward to hosting you in the near future for a further discussion of your thesis and your PhD journey at CWTS (as a conversation rather than a defense!) :)

Y2K showed that choices in computer design ultimately had implications for everyone. Today we can draw a clear parallel to AI: as the technology becomes intertwined with critical infrastructure, even those who swear off AI are becoming reliant it. just-tech.ssrc.org/articles/new...

A really, really late post on the #STS-NL conference that took place last month, but about the experience I'm still pondering over: When the noise of the world gets too loud, can researchers really just "keep calm and carry on"? #stsnl #stsnl2026 tinkering-research.pikapod.net/sts-nl-2026-...

This is too annoying... If they published as a book, they should manage it as a book

It was great to have you at my session! I realize I was in a rush, and there’s definitely room for improvement. I’d really appreciate it if you could let me know which parts were difficult to follow. :)

I definitely recommend reading the book <Publishing Beyond the Market>, as we couldn't summarize all its value in this short post. You can also watch the seminar recording, and you should come to the next CWTS Research Seminars too! (All links to the resources are also in the original blog post)

My first piece on Leiden Madtrics comes out from a triple joy: 1. Joy of reading a thought-provoking book and listening to the presentation from @samuelmoore.org 2. Joy of discussing with others who actually care the research commons 3. Joy of writing together with Tanya, a PhD colleague at CWTS

I'll be serving as a discussant for the seminar (hybrid) this Friday and excited to share my thoughts on coerced or captured AI adoption in academia! Though my comment will be short, looking forward other's thoughts on the topic (find links for the open letter and the position paper in below page).

But what's the context of the article when citing yours? Just curious because the title and abstract doesn't seem to be related. Was it to include prompts like you've suggested?
