Finally, the game's not called Scribblenauts in Japan, it's instead known as Flash Puzzle: Maxwell's Marvelous Notebook The sequel, Super Scribblenauts, just kept its English name.

Of note, Igarashi says he took on the job of localizing it (something he normally doesn't do) since he considered it a masterpiece and wanted it to get the same level of attention in Japan that it did in the west He also didn't put himself in the credits, as he was honored enough just to work on it

Did you know Scribblenauts was actually published by Konami in Japan? You can summon a ton of Konami characters like Snake, Power Pro-kun, Goemon and Alucard. Not only that, the Japanese localization was handled by none other than Koji "IGA" Igarashi himself! dengekionline.com/elem/000/000...

Here's a classic Japanese gaming meme: in a 1997 issue of Gamest covering the racing title Scud Race / Sega Super GT, "turn the handle to the right" (ハンドルを右に) was accidentally printed as "turn the Indian to the right" (イン ド人を右に)
