Wright Thompson's post-Katrina piece "Beyond the Breach" tells so many stories of heroism, hope and heartache after Katrina. One of those is New Orleans Saints legend Steve Gleason. Thompson's story (and it's more a novella than an article) opens with Gleason early in his ALS battle.

Trying to find the official gamebook from yesterday, but PFR gave Tyson Bagent the QB start, not Case Keenum. This despite Keenum taking the snap on the first play and being lined up at QB. I support this non-sticklerization of the rules! We now have three QBs with winning records. Bear Down!

So Matt Cassel got the start for Week 1, by playing one snap. It was his only snap for the Bills all season. The Bills won 27-14 and Cassel got credited with the win. Taylor effectively started 14 games — he made the Pro Bowl! — but was only credited with 13 quarterback starts.

An example of this came in 2015, when the Bills in Week 1 put starting QB Tyrod Taylor out wide on the first play of the game and put Matt Cassel in at QB. The broadcast initially called Taylor the starter, and then Cassel moved to QB.
