Sorry to pretty much only be knitting content rn but this is where I’m at mentally lol. Homework done! I have ribbed AND stockinetted AND cast off (even if the castoff is a bit wonky) and it is starting to look recognizably like knitting 🧶

Week two knitting homework done! DK yarn is much more fiddly and I’m having a hard time holding the actual yarn. Need to watch some videos on how other people hold the working yarn I think 🧶

Finished my week 1 homework from knitting class!! I can cast on and do a garter stitch. Turns out I knit continental style and prefer metal circular needles. Also I hated the way this yarn worked up for crochet but love the way it looks knitted

Ok very pleased actually with the colors I chose!! The light pinks are a touch closer in value than I’d anticipated but maybe I’ll just add some cream in too idk

Not to sound snobby or whatever but this teacher institute has been WONDERFUL. It is invigorating to have rigorous academic discussion with intelligent people about important things. Most teacher PD I go to feels more like cult recruitment/retainment and this has been so great

From the top: The Library Book, a collection of O Henry, Behold the Walls, Sense & Sensibility, Vincent & Theo, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde, Persuasion, The Strange Disappearance of Imogen Good, and Pride and Prejudice. Tbh… mostly chosen for the colors 😅

THE ONLY ONE LEFT piles on the plot twists, and the house is a character the way the island of Widow’s Bay is a character. Intergenerational trauma and mystery as well as some nice comeuppance make this a good readalike imo

110

Stone Cold Jane Austen @readergyrl.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

THE HOLLOW PLACES is Horror!Narnia but also has a badass Patricia-type main character who handles shit while being scared as hell the whole time

100

Stone Cold Jane Austen @readergyrl.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

PLAY NICE is probably the *least* like Widow’s Bay in many ways but I also feel like the bloodline/must protect my family/demonic entity aspects are great and it has some of the humor that makes Widow’s Bay work so well

100

Stone Cold Jane Austen @readergyrl.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

A LAND SO WIDE is probably the closest readalike on the list with such hits as “powerful dark entity” and “leaders of small village make a pact with the devil” and “magical perimeter citizens cannot cross” but also there’s a romance element

110

Stone Cold Jane Austen @readergyrl.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

YOURE NOT SUPPOSED TO DIE TONIGHT by Kalynn Bayron is a horror romp about an escape-room style summer camp that goes horribly wrong. It gives a lot of the same “what the fuck!!!” moments as Widow’s Bay and we love a badass final girl

Book 43/150: SMALL GAME. I think if I had not read so many Nora Roberts books where there’s some sick twisted dude watching your every move I would have enjoyed this more. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop instead of appreciating the one that was already on the (forest) floor. 3.5⭐️
