Sadly, it's probably still possible to get RCE. The good news is that most hackers would likely get bored and give up before achieving RCE on the target.

The sad thing is that I don't think they voted for this. They voted for so much more than just this. He gives people the freedom to be their worst possible selves, which is not healthy for society or humanity.

@hiltonhotels.bsky.social Ms. Lehigh very much enjoys being Diamond status (since she was a kitten), and she seems to believe that the Hampton Inn is her natural habitat, but she really would like to be a traveling housekeeping quality assurance inspector.

Only $175k? At today's levels of corruption, that should be regarded by us mere mortals as just some "pocket change" he had lying around. Nothing to see here. Move along.

If you had a life-threatening emergency, would you rather have a doctor who calmly directed the team and explained your condition in a normal tone of voice, or one who ran around and yelled at everyone? In my mind slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. But I could be wrong.

Authors have written dystopian hellscape stories as a warning. But this administration seems to believe they are a playbook.

I am not so certain that with our public health system on life support at the moment one week will be sufficient to accurately pinpoint the source. I would love to be wrong, but being trained in emergency medicine I am required to consider the worst case scenario first.

Not "morally flexible" but rather "morally bankrupt." In other words, he was perfect for this administration.

Advanced imaging (such as MRI) now has the capability to show brain death, but whether that's sufficient I do not know. As I am emergency medicine I'm almost never involved in that type of death pronouncement any longer. Back in my internal medicine days, yes, I did brain death exams in the ICU.

Declaring someone "brain dead" is a process that often requires two separate physicians doing a specific series of examinations over a period of time (such as 12-24 hours). If certain medications have been administered, you may have to wait days to even consider a brain death evaluation.

No. In NJ, where I went to medical school, if the patient or family had religious objections to brain death then we didn't even do the brain death protocol. You also cannot just remove someone from the ventilator. However, once brain death occurs, the rest of the body will eventually shut down.

Lehigh was not quite herself. I looked through our bags, and I had not yet unpacked one of her favorite toys. She saw it and immediately carried it off to the bathroom with an expression like, "Dad, I need some alone time with my toy. I'll be back in a bit." She is now back to normal.

Speaking as a physician, there are some states that do not allow pronouncement of death based upon brain death criteria if the next of kin refuses to accept brain death as death. In that case, death must be pronounced by cardiopulmonary arrest criteria. But I am not licensed in KY.

A reminder today: Plan your activities so that tomorrow morning you can still count to ten on both your fingers and your toes. OEM replacement parts are very hard to find, and there isn't much core value left after a rapid unintentional disassembly of appendages.

I admit that I have little experience with certain feminine products, but many of the packing products I have used are designed and manufactured quite differently. There are only a few places where all I have is the old-school Merocel packing. Almost every place now has Rapid Rhino products.

It sounds like the DIY nasal packing I have often seen come into the Emergency Department. There are much more effective options, but they require a professional license to purchase. With those, you would just see a string or balloon coming out of the nose.

I cannot disagree with your statements. However, in this administration having credibility is an immediate disqualification for any position. It's not just pandering to the ignorant, it's elevating ignorance to the status of a virtue.

I have seen people die of invasive cervical cancer. Bleeding out from a cancer that invaded one of your pelvic arteries is not a fate I would wish on anyone. But people have choices about what they do with their body. I do have a serious problem with others imposing their beliefs on someone else.

Or, if the new office is on a higher floor, "Your case has been escalated." If not, it's probably not good to tell a client that their case has had a "lateral transfer" if the statement could be avoided.

Cats do not understand the Reuben sandwich. Lehigh: "Dad, don't eat that. It's too dead. Let me cover it up for you." (scratches at the counter) Me: "It's good, it's supposed to smell like that. But it's probably not good for you."

Treason has a definition, and it does not include voter suppression. Is it corrupt? Absolutely. Are the series of actions to dismantle the US government to the advantage of a hostile foreign power treasonous? Absolutely. But is this one particular act treasonous? No.

It is, in part, a cost issue. Going single-payer would deprive many insurance company executives of their blood money. Much of what the US spends on healthcare doesn't go to the people who wear gloves and touch patients. Insurance companies take their share before any healthcare is paid.

It was already ugly, but the ugliness was not socially acceptable. It was hidden, it was whispered. Now it is socially acceptable, so people feel free to be their absolute worst in public.

Nurses who know me will absolutely not be surprised by this present from an Emergency Department RN I just worked with. This was my second shift at this site. Night shift, of course.

I have fallen on the sword in the past multiple times for good causes. Thus far, it has merely been flesh wounds. I do agree, it's unlikely and my position is not popular with people who have power and control.

We would need another Amendment (in addition to the "People are people.") to fully fix that: "Money is not speech."
110
Dr. Rudolph D. Bescherer, Jr. @rdbeschererjr.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
Agreed again, but the long-term consequences if the Democratic plan succeeds are far more catastrophic when (not if) another idiot with dictatorial tendencies becomes the oaf in office. We need a reboot that respects ALL of the Constitution. An Amendment declaring "People are people" would be nice.

Dr. Rudolph D. Bescherer, Jr. @rdbeschererjr.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
Objectively, some things are better. But they are insistent upon gutting other portions of the Constitution that are, quite honestly, the only thing stopping full-blown authoritarianism at this moment. They are not doing anything productive to stop, or even partially reign in, the mango Mussolini.
110
Dr. Rudolph D. Bescherer, Jr. @rdbeschererjr.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
This is exactly why I hate the brainwashing that the country must be a 2-party system. Both parties at this moment are bad for the country. They both want to use the Constitution for toilet paper, just different parts for each. If we keep choosing between the two of them, there will be nothing left.

I would love to agree with you, but they have already performed all sorts of verbal gymnastics to invalidate the plain text meaning of parts of the Constitution, which is why we are at this point now. We cannot depend upon them to do this.

I am sorry you have had to deal with that, but you are not alone. Many people are freely showing their worst selves because they think their darkest desires are now socially-acceptable.

To be honest, one does not need to be a gynecologist or female to understand the failures to offer reasonable and medically necessary healthcare to women. One just needs to open one's eyes to accurately view reality and have some shred of empathy. But I'm only an emergency medicine physician.

It's not done for stability reasons. If, for any reason, there is blanking of the horizontal stabilizer in that configuration then you die. The aircraft violently pitches up, stalls the main wing, and it is unrecoverable.
000
Dr. Rudolph D. Bescherer, Jr. @rdbeschererjr.bsky.social · 07/05/2026
The center of lift in a conventional airplane is aft of the center of mass when properly configured. In order to maintain an altitude, the horizontal stabilizer needs to exert a downward force. No, the airfoil does not need to be inverted, but it must indeed create "anti-lift" in order to fly.
110
Dr. Rudolph D. Bescherer, Jr. @rdbeschererjr.bsky.social · 06/05/2026
However, the original Wright airplane was a canard configuration. Both horizontal surfaces contributed to lift.
160
Dr. Rudolph D. Bescherer, Jr. @rdbeschererjr.bsky.social · 06/05/2026
Uh, sir, in order to comply we have to flip them upside down so they produce anti-lift, and then we have to make the bigger wings even bigger to compensate for that.

Dr. Rudolph D. Bescherer, Jr. @rdbeschererjr.bsky.social · 04/05/2026
I am absolutely sick and tired of people blaming voters who cast a ballot for a third party candidate. The blame lies entirely upon two groups: those who voted for this and those who chose not to vote. Full stop. The Constitution does not demand a two party system.

Lehigh did something she has not done in a while. World, this is the original "Mousie" (pronounced mous-ee, non-binary). Mousie was Lehigh's first toy ever as a kitten. This morning she came into the bedroom with Mousie in her mouth. She was meowing, and then she dropped Mousie at my feet.

For some of us it is not a "small inconvenience" when we drive a lot. I'm talking over 40k miles per year. There is not yet a vehicle with the payload capacity and range of an ICE for very long drives.
