Judging by the temperature outlook, it appears we're entering the next phase of fall. After tomorrow most of #NLwx will struggle to hit 10°C for a few days. Western Labrador may barely climb above freezing early next week, with lows nearing -10°C (on Canadian guidance, anyway)!

September goes into the rear-view with just 3 days reaching 20+°C at St. John’s #YYT. Fewest since 2019. Year-to-date total 49 days also lowest since 2019 (will see if October nudges that up, though not likely by much). Quite a contrast to the record 84 days in 2025! 🌡️ #nlwx

One of the local stories of 9/11 was how hot it became aboard the diverted planes, with no A/C and thousands of passengers unable to disembark for 24+ hours. #NLwx was in the midst of an unseasonably warm stretch for September, driven by an upper ridge dominating the North Atlantic.

Still no 30°C days at Gander #YQX this year as of Aug 31. Barring a fall anomaly, 2026 will be the first year since 2016 without one. Quite a diff from 2025 in #NLwx, which saw 5 days ≥30°C in St. John's, 8 in Gander & 10 in Badger. Yet PAB set a new all-time record high of 28.2°C this year! 🌡️
