I've been working for the last 10 days to set up an Etsy shop. I'm launching it now. Two things in this shop are 100% for Minnesota relief - the Bird of Protection mug and the Dragons Against Ice sticker. The other two mugs are for general happiness. www.etsy.com/listing/4447...

I am attaching a screenshot from an earlier post on Facebook, the only place he is addressing the issue directly. Screenshot via @penquisition.bsky.social (sorry am a bit slow right now, was adding alt text) I am noting the founder's avoidance of even mentioning trans people directly.
Winona: "Why would your company choose to collaborate with Harry Potter and alienate your trans consumers and their allies? That's the biggest reason I haven't purchased from you recently"

Response from founder of Ferris Wheel Press, Ray Yu: "Thank you for the real question Winona. I can sense your kindness and want to respond authentically. The decision to create a Harry Potter collection was primarily driven by our shared artistic aesthetics and cohesive storylines. It was born out of an appreciation for the creative and nothing else.

That said, I full acknowledge that this decision has consequences and has made people feel uncomfortable and unloved. That was an unwanted consequence of being associated with Harry Potter and one that we will have to live with; and the only thing that I (us as a company) can do is to show love, respect, and appreciation for all people and focus on following our mission and values. I think it's possible to disagree with one another and still show love."

What I'm thinking about today:
A frame from Tarkovsky's Stalker (1979) in which Stalker is lying down in the stream in the Zone, and is joined by the mysterious black dog. We don't know where the dog comes from. I think this might be the first time we see the dog in the film.

Woke up worried about my disabled kid who is ill and has a higher level of support need and I see a person I respected post this. AAAND of course people already defend this and try to splain to me what the poster meant. Listen, "let disabled people die" is always the point for some people.
i'm at a point where I hope elon does illegal stop social security payments. i want to see what happens

There fountain pens for comparison: Sailor Pro Gear, Onoto Scholar, Edison Menlo. More info in the alt text :) I find the Scholar to be super comfortable.
Three capped fountain pens in a tray. The top one is the Edison Menlo Fingerpaints, a multicolored yellow, orange, and green pen. In the middle is the Onoto Scholar Mandarin in yellow resin with silver trim. On the bottom is a Sailor Pro Gear Après Ski, a jade green pen with pale gold trim.Three uncapped fountain pens in a tray. Ok: let's do this, one like, one piece I wrote. I've written a lot of things over the years, and this will focus on creative work. Depending on how many likes I get, it might take me a while to post them all :)
A picture reads: "Get to know my writing. For every like, I will post one piece I wrote <3

In that case it was Joseph Conrad. To refresh your memory, here is his face on a book which is on my desk right now. :)

Dear RB,

Thanks for reaching out. We usually list all donors in our annual report, and we are happy to list the contribution as "Friends of Corey Alexander, in memory of Corey Alexander." What a beautiful tribute, and sending care to you and your community.

While we ask gifts to be made without restriction whenever possible (which helps us respond to urgent needs in our communities) – disability justice is one of core programming areas, more information here: https://transgenderlawcenter.org/programs/disability-project/. We are in the midst of a groundbreaking national survey, and will be releasing a report and policy recommendations next year: https://transgenderlawcenter.org/transgender-law-centers-disability-project-launches-first-ever-disabled-and-deaf-trans-people-survey/. Thank you so much for supporting this and all our work.
