Use it to research whether modern Damien is Barron or Jared. My money is on Jared, what with his family's building at 666 Park Ave.

The almost unanimous acceptance of the Hemings family into the Jefferson descendants' activities has been, for me, one of the signs that things are indeed getting better over time.

The fact that Jared (or Damien, as I call him (666 Park Ave?... Really?)) is a power player in the Trump White House is wrong on every level, but it's real. Should Jeffries ignore reality?

My observations are limited to Guilford County, but, as someone who uses a bike for most of my shopping, I am sure that the drivers in Food Lion parking lots are immensely stupider and more dangerous then those at other grocery stores (even Walmart!).

Hmmm. A politician who continually wins elections and has executive experience running both a big city and a huge state. Seems... good?

How is his performance as CA Governor? I don't have a frame of reference for it.

Henri at the World Cup was a revelation. He can't get a word in edgewise on the Champions Legue shows between the 'poetry' of Micah and the braying of Jamie.

You know what else is "woke"? Sidewalks and crosswalks, especially the ones with those nanny-government "WALK" and "DONT WALK" signs. I'm no sheeple! From now on, I'm doing the manly thing and challenging those cars on MY terms!

Just had my yearly check-up yesterday, and the addition of new measles questions to the normal screening stuff was pretty depressing.

My parents took me with them on a package tour of London in the early 70s. My 13-year-old self was hugely stirred by and impressed with the changing of the guard ceremony at the Palace... until they started playing show tunes like "Hello Dolly."

2/2 Except for the times she was transporting the pony they had for their daughters, which rode in the back and seemed to enjoy sticking its head out the window much like a dog. That was a pretty exciting sight for us 8-year-olds.

1/2 The owner of the local paper lived around the corner from us. His wife, who was not at all put out by being thought a "character", was in a wreck once and thereafter insisted on driving a Cadillac limo. We were used to seeing it go by.

As an occasional visitor to Cville's downtown since around 1980, and as a current resident of Greensboro, NC, which is just starting the project to turn a block or two of downtown to a pedestrian mall (to much uproar), I am quite interested to hear of current issues up there.

1. There is no vacancy for Beshear to fill. If there was: 2. If Beshear challenges the KY law forcing him to appoint a Republican, it'll be in court forever, and end up at the Supreme Court, which will reliably rule against him. 3. It is a very good thing that Republicans are missing a vote.

Richard Broaddus @rbfour.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
The seat isn’t fucking vacant, the Dems are better off with it remaining as is. Beshear is working to make life better for Kentuckians. They’ll let us know if that changes.

Richard Broaddus @rbfour.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
Re: McConnell and Beshear At this point everyone screaming for the Dems to do something are just getting a block. They are either bots, chasing engagement and relevance (looking at you, minor-league “former [insert political office] candidates”), or are woefully uninformed.

Richard Broaddus @rbfour.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
Well, if you have anything at all to do with Kentucky (which I seriously doubt), I hope you use a lot of your posting time (is that a good gig?) supporting Booker in the November election. That's the only thing that matters in giving Kentuckians decent representation, which you claim to care about.
000
Richard Broaddus @rbfour.bsky.social · 25/07/2026
If you're not seeing EVERYTHING right now as a left/right, or to put it more simply, a good/bad issue, than you are part of the problem, and not the solution. Beshear is the rare leader who can win in a deep red state, and he knows better than you how to deal with this.

Yes, ascertaining McConnell ‘s status only helps Republicans. It certainly doesn't help Democrats in any single way. Vote Charles Booker!!

What he is doing is keeping focus on governing his state, and preparing for the upcoming election for that Senate seat. Winning the seat in the general election in November is the key... not this death watch thing. Do you even know who the candidates are?
