Rebellion collected the ones published up to 1989 in 2 excellent hardcover volumes just over 10 years ago.

Raz Shah 🇵🇸 🏏 @razs.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Yes that's where I remember them from because I think the collections were advertised in 2000Aad as they were published by Fleetway themselves as opposed to Titan. I had Vol 1 but I think I sold it quite a while ago when I was a part-time comic dealer. I think they did 5 in all.

Yes that *is* surprising, it's exactly the sort of film that would be up their street you would have thought.

I saw this back in my late teens, when it was broadcast on the BBC here in the UK. Brilliant movie. That was over 45 years ago and it's never been shown since on free to air TV here. I would love to see it again, must see if I can source a Blu-ray from somewhere.

Georgia Holt, what a babe! Cher's mother and singer/songwriter in her own right iirc.

We're triplets! I did that with the Alex Raymond Flash Gordon Sunday strip that was published in the color supplement magazine that came me the Observer every Sunday back in the day.

Indeed! Genius move by Scorsese "reversing" the casting and both actors playing the characters the other normally would have played.

Yes I think it was around then . He also did a great job drawing the Dredd newspaper strip (in the Daily Star of all places) from '81 onwards. Both the 10 panel Saturday strip and the 3/ 4 panel dailies .

I can understand that point of view Personally at the time I thought he was a really great compliment to their styles, very much in the traditional style. As you say I can't imagine anyone else doing such a great job drawing Otto Sump or the fatties and their belly wheels!

Ron Smith, the (seemingly) always overlooked 3rd member of the classic trio of brilliant Dredd artists. Bolland and McMahon being the other two of course. Love his stuff.

I'm glad to hear that. It's useful feedback because sometimes I see stuff that I can only find in the States but I have been reluctant . You're right about having to be patient, but I find the older I get, and the more hair that I lose, my BS threshold goes down but my patience levels go up 😁

Just av very belated follow-up question on this Rich. Did you have to have to pay any import fees in the end?

A particularly brilliant moment of course was when Sarah skewered Ed Sheeran by dedicating "You're in a Bad Way" to him 😁

It's really odd. I was able to pick up all Jack's Caps from #193 to this issue here in the UK relatively easily as a kid. After that the vagaries of distribution hit and I never saw more than one issue of the rest of his run.

I used to have the original h/c of this. Unfortunately I sold it a long time ago 🤦🏽‍♂️

Got that issue of Fear as a kid 2nd hand in my favourite junk shop I used visit every Saturday. Love those squarebound comics. Just one look at that cover transports me back to happier times! ☺️

Jeff Purves was a big change in style after McFarlane. Can't say I was a fan.

Cardy did some lovely covers on that series.

Yup some of those are hard to find and pricey. Great comics.

Fantastic series. Pat Mills really giving vent to his feelings about super heroes and some of Kev O'Neill's finest work. The violent content caused a big stink in the UK tabloid media when the comic was published.

110

Raz Shah 🇵🇸 🏏 @razs.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

Yes, definitely! I used to do that regularly when I was younger. Byrne/Austin X-Men, Bob Layton and Micheline's Iron Man, Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Starlin's Captain Marvel Avengers 150-200. Then life got busy and I didn't have time. I do nowadays, so I'm looking forward to doing the same again.

Talking of GL, anyone been watching Lanterns? It seems to be very polarising amongst fans so far. Not a fan of of most of Lindelof''s work, but I like parts of this . (No spoilers for ep 3, not seen it yet. 🙂)

I'm just shifting my collection from long boxes to short ones, (lot easier on my bad back!) Will make it a lot easier to retrieve my comics from the storage space. Will give me an opportunity to re-read a lot of comics that I haven't looked at a couple of decades. This will be one of them.

Great 4th world comic by Kirby! One of the few kid me was able to buy on release due to the vagaries of UK distribution. I had no idea who Don Rickles was, but I loved that comic!

I bought this and the next issue 2nd hand not long after release from my favourite junk shop. Iirc the story was originally supposed to be published as an annual, but was eventually split up and published as part of the regular run.

Great cover by Perez. Yes it was #123, they stopped doing earth bound stories and put GL in space again. It also has a great cover, by his original artist, Gil Kane.
