I remember work from Bosart’s group and none of the many cases they reviewed had Pacific origins. However, satellite studies by Scofield and Oliver documented mid level Pacific moisture as a key in some Midwest flood/flash flood events. But like you said, we need the low level moisture too.

At least with newer vehicles with backup cams, that should be less of an issue. But for older vehicles that is more of a thing. What’s interesting is the cultural shift because years ago, no one did this.

Unfortunately large groups like AGU are limited by the number of venues that can handle a group that size. Even smaller AMS is limited. But I have to think of all the potential locations, SF is the most expensive.

I didn’t think it could possibly be more humid in the Delta, but I see that assessment was wrong. I mean it was already so humid moisture would condense (not sweat!) on your skin when you moved from indoor air conditioning to outside humidity.

Beyond pet peeve levels - it’s absolutely infuriating to me when economists and non economists refer to the US industrial ag system as efficient: that doesn’t factor in its massive environmental costs, ignores its dependence on subsidies & the distribution of its benefits to the already privileged.
