Ray Petelin @raypetelinwx.bsky.social · 28/05/2026The Wizard Nebula. It's real name is NGC 7380. It is a star-forming region in the constellation Cepheus, about 7,200 light-years away, it's a young open star cluster in a glowing nebula that resembles a wizard...I drew the wizard on it... Please don't laugh at my drawing skills 🤣. 020

Ray Petelin @raypetelinwx.bsky.social · 21/10/2025☄️Last night was our shot to see the peak of the Orionid Meteor Shower. The constellation Orion has many more things going on too...like the Orion Nebula!! It's visible to the naked eye in the "sword" of Orion, just below Orion's Belt. It's a huge cloud of gas & dust where new stars are being born. 120
Ray Petelin @raypetelinwx.bsky.social · 11/09/2025This is The Heart Nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia, about 7,500 light-years from Earth. It is not possible to see this with the naked eye. I attached hundreds of long exposure images from last night on top of each other & edited to bring out more details. *images captured from Pittsburgh 130
Reposted by Ray PetelinHiding in the Burgh @hidingintheburg.bsky.social · 29/06/2025Such a moving, original film. Need to ponder it more. Made it home safely, a little harrowing due to HEAVY rain. This is what A and I saw as we walked out of the theater at 5:30 in Greensburg (and then basically ran to our cars before it hit): cc: @raypetelinwx.bsky.social 061
