Coastal fog rolls in

From the top down: Blue sky above, with a few wispy clouds. Just beneath floats a layer of coastal moisture, draped like a blanket over a mountain. The peak of the mountain is lost in the coastal fog, but the fog echoes the mountain’s shape. Tendrils of fog roll their way inland, gliding down the near side of the peak. Beneath the blanket of fog, a verdant ridgeline sketches the slopes the mountain upward into the clouds. Beneath the ridgeline are a few trees, very near, and a house with windows whose shapes echo the mountain.

While searching for solutions to a software issue, I found a StackOverflow answer that says the following configuration parameter should be added to my local configuration:

Gourd season, you say?

It’s decorative non-Euclidean gourd season motherfuckers.

A butternut squash is shown. It appears to be… sad. Various triangles are drawn on its surface showing they don’t match the predictions of Euclidean geometry.

The tombs outside Fes, 2013

A view looking North from a hillside outside the town of Fes, Morocco 🇲🇦. Nearby there’s a few late season red and yellow flowers in bloom. Ancient ruins stand decaying in the foreground, against s green and brown grassy hillside. In the distance, gentle rolling hills are lit in a sun that has left the foreground behind. Trees in a rough orchard pattern dot the gray hills, as well as Mediterranean shrubberies. The only sign of modern civilization is a small ribbon of a paved road in the mid-distance, just below a grove if gravestones.

Marrakesh, 2013

A black donkey standing on a brick street. On his back is a lot of colored fabrics providing some padding under a wooden seat. Turns out if you forget a can of soda water in the freezer, you get to do ad hoc iceberg experiments! On a 99°F, 37°C October day this is a happy pamplemousse-flavored accident.

A pint glass with one large, soda can shaped hunk of ice floating in water. Roughly 1/8th or 1/10th of the ice is above the water line, by volume.

A delightfully colored napkin is in the background, ready to catch any condensation.

Made a no-kneed dough Thursday night, put it in the fridge after 24 hours of rising on the counter top in my chilly kitchen. Pulled it out this morning and let half the dough warm up in a cast iron skillet. Pesto, artichoke hearts, tomatoes I blistered under the broiler, and all the cheeses later…
