My cousin and his family are going through some things with his parents and sister. He told me about it over speaker phone at my parents house, so there would be witnesses to the promises I made to let him handle it his way. But I told my mom how angry I was that I couldn't do anything to help.

We went to Estes Park today to see if we could see some elk. We hadn't even made it into the town proper when we got stuck in traffic because of this king and his harem. It was a fabulous day!

We're home and it's so nice. I know it's my funky brain, but it's wonderful to be able to do everyday things without worrying about breaking anything, getting something really dirty, etc. The dogs were very good boys, of course. One even would jump up on the couch and let us cuddle him.

I thought there was a mouse scratching at a storage container in my closet. It is actually a squirrel scratching at the corner of my roof. I went out to put some laundry on the line, heard him and asked "Can you please not.". I need to see what he's doing up there. Squirrels are jerks!

We are soon going to be house/dog sitting for a friend who is going on vacation for 3 weeks. Her oldest dog is 14.5 years old and I am terrified that something will happen to him while they are gone. I know if it does, it can't be helped. But that isn't helping my anxiety one little bit.

Dad and I went to the Rockies game last night. Since it was a surprise birthday gift from my sister, I didn't take the day off of work. The Rockies lost, I crawled into bed around 12:30am this morning and slept until almost 2pm. Guess I don't recover from long days as easily as I used to. 😴

It's summer apple season again. We picked two five gallon buckets from a tree a lady across town has, and we're going to a neighbors' tomorrow to pick hers. We'll also see if her crab apples are ready to pick. We didn't get any chokecherries this year, and not much out of the garden but tomatoes. 🤷

Dad and I went to the Rockies game yesterday. It was a complete reverse from the one on the 31st. We sat over in left field, got sunburned and the Rockies lost. One thing I will never understand about people who go to sporting events: Why do they go if they don't want to watch the game?

I conducted a multi-purpose experiment. To see how the orchard I got my peaches from may have voted and how hard it was to get that info. It took around 10 minutes all told. Everyone that is listed as living at the address of the Fuller Orchard in Palisade, CO is a registered Republican.

I was working the day my cousin and dad planted the tomatoes. I asked if they put eggshells in the holes before they planted them. They said no, but it'll probably be okay. Mom and I went and looked at the tomatoes tonight. At least a quarter of them had blossom end rot. 🤬 #garden

Summer used to be my favorite season. I am now of the belief that the only reason that was was because it's when we were out of school. Also, it rarely hit 90f when I was a kid, let alone 100. Spring is now my favorite season.

I saw a berry bush where they don't ripen at the same time, the ripe ones are a black/purple color and each one has three small seeds in it. The seeds are a darkish yellow with a black spot on them. Does anyone know what this is? #garden #plant

I'm watching a lovely Brittany spaniel for a co-worker while he's on vacation. She is a former hunting dog, and apparently that's all she was. Crate to hunting to crate. He's trying to teach her how to be a pet. She was hunting in the woodpile and would not leave it, so I carried her into the house.

I went to the doctor to schedule some standard procedures for my age. Filled out the standardized mental health form and when he went over it, I told him it needed more detail. It's a CYA for the doctors. Because as long as I'm not suicidal, I'm OK. 🤬

Mispronounced foods that become something else ideas. For example, when someone pronounces quesadilla as quesa-dill-a, it includes fresh dill and pickles. Pico de Galileo is diced Roma tomatoes, red onion, diced pepperoncini, sliced olives, lemon juice, a pinch of salt and fresh basil. Any others?

These are my parents dogs, Shadow on the right and Culain on the left. The dork on the left got sprayed by a skunk on top of his head two days ago. The disturbing part is that my mom didn't smell skunk, thought it smelled like hamburger grease and that he'd been under the grill looking for snacks. 🥴

So I officially started being a lead today. The new place is weird, but I'm finding my way around. So far, so good. Our operations manager gave me a lot of help and said she was glad to see me there as the lead, so that made me feel good. I'm still scared, but I'm upright and not crying. 😁
