You're turning this serious question into a thought experiment for your moral philosophy class (as such, it's a variant of the trolley problem). I don't think it's all that relevant, because I don't think oath requires "fiat lux, ruat caelum" - but you may differ.

Congress being full of dog and pony shows, I wouldn't care, even tho it's obviously just a futile effort, but it has massive adverse effects due to this insane cult. If you can do anything with impeachment, impeach and convict the enablers: Vance, Supreme Court justices, even a few cabinet losers.

We don’t have any say in the matter at the moment. Supreme Court awarded him carte blanche. impeachment is completely ineffective not just against the current malefactors. Congress at the least is either a member of or completely terrified of his massive cult. Bit of a predicament.

The main consequence was that it generated enthusiasm in his massive cult, which cult is grievance based and thrives on persecution.

I'll believe it when it's actual election results and maybe some in-depth sociology on who voted for what. Until then, it's preference falsification and grousing.

Please don't mention this. I'm terrified of the pitchforks and torches that are coming. For all of it.

I just realised this is in the arc of Doctorows ensh—-ification but for taxes: Republican Theory. 1st you lower taxes to attract voters. Then you move up ignoring the lower income voters and focus on the rich & oligarchs. Then you stick it to them and loot then loot the Treasury.

That's fascinating - I didn't realize either he'd been involved or that it was kind of a Firefly test run. I thought "Aliens" was enough but I'll have to look into this. I also heard it was not so good but Alien/Aliens was in some way sufficient.

Well many happy returns … They know. Don’t underestimate them. The house parrot greats everybody -by name- when they come in the door. She’s also quite fluent in crow as far as I can tell - but really have no idea what they’re talking about with each other.

Could be but it’s 2 facts among many. Your native language is a gigantic catalogue of facts with no metadata. I can tell when I learned the word ”velleity” or “phalarope” but not “weak” or “duck”.

Manipulation. It’s all manipulation. In this case comfort the cult and stir up his enemies to attract more ineffective social media “persecution“, which also gets his cult energized.

It happens occasionally. Run thru some of the things you know now - not current events but something like history or math - can you pinpoint when you learned Columbus discovered America - and when you learned he didn’t?

rayeighscatter.bsky.social @rayeighscatter.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
We don't have an effective signal or flag in our human psyches to distinguish between "I know this item" - "I learned this item at this point". Once we learn something it just seems to fit itself in and we go on. Computational systems, tho, can do that. Forgetting is hard for both.

Lewis’ book is not about SBF’s analysis of Shakespeare but how SBF thinks and works. “Bayesian priors” is a clue. It’s one of many.

rayeighscatter.bsky.social @rayeighscatter.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
SBF is damaged goods but is unique and interesting person (read Lewis' book - it's an interesting assessment). He should be serving his sentence in the basement of the Pentagon or in some academic lab, analyzing societal trends. Of course he is about as dangerous as the AIs so....

Shakespeare was just a writer guy (a Michael Lewis) in the 17th C; he was a god in the 19th C ; he's just not that highly regarded now, partly because the language is getting so difficult for people to read they don't bother. "Best" is not his inherent property - it's ours.
100
rayeighscatter.bsky.social @rayeighscatter.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
I think he's right about one thing and misses the mark about another. He's right that it's unlikely he's the best writer of his time - whether he is or isn't is another matter, but there are a lot of competitors. What's he wrong about is "best writer of all time" - that's a societal measurement.
100
rayeighscatter.bsky.social @rayeighscatter.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
I think what SBF is trying to say, dressed up in this math lingo, is "based on what I know [which ain't much, but is non-zero] it's very unlikely Shakespeare is best writer in English". It's worth our while trying to understand what Bayesian priors mean (Bayes stats I am struggling with myself).
