Without Question (2024) - (1/3) A Tessduin comic My answer to the question of where Tess Greymane was during the burning of Teldrassil. (Trigger warning: inferno/fire, blood, burns)

Years ago (WoD era)

A younger Anduin is reading in bed. There is a knocking at a curtained window. He picks up his cane and goes to check.

(TW blood)

Anduin throws open the curtain, with his cane raised, only to see Tess Greymane sat outside his window covered in snow. She waves sheepishly, her hand covered in blood.

It cuts to later with him tending to her injuries.

(TW blood)

Tess lays face down on his couch as he tends to her wounded arm.

Tess: I don't want to hear a word out of you about sneaking out.
Anduin: Would it hurt to try not getting shot next time?
Tess: If it's that much of a bother, I could always trouble another healer.
Anduin: If you want your father to hear how his only heir has been jumping headfirst into danger, then be my guest... but I don't recommend it.
Tess: Then you won't have any problem helping me out the next time I get caught!

Anduin grumbles as he uses the Light to heal her arm.

Tess: Ow
Anduin: Sorry...

Tess: But for what it's worth... thank you.
He smiles.
Anduin: You're welcome.

Retail exists in the state it does because players made it that way. They complained about RPG elements being clunky. They complained about flying in new content being timegated. They complained about new zones with tough NPCs and no flying. Forever will have the same complaints.

Retail has been incredibly successful despite the doomsayers. Midnight sold very well and has high player retention. Forever is a new WoW game - not just a rerelease - so it's bound to get a lot of hype. The two offer different experiences and can coexist just fine.

The funny thing about those WoWF players saying they hope it kills retail is that the reason Forever doesn't have a cover price is because retail subsidises it. If retail did die all the responsibility for revenue made from expansions, subs, the shop etc would fall onto Forever. #WorldofWarcraft

Zekhan became a beloved meme with his own nickname, got given a completely unique model (not even Rokhan has this aside from his eyes), and yet is really not pushed that much in the lore. Don't even know what his role is in the Horde other than being a good shaman. #WorldofWarcraft

I hope WoW Forever doesn't get too many classic races we've been wanting on retail for years. If they get ogres, Amani, or high elves, a lot of people on retail will be annoyed. Skyborne and divergent new races might be a better path. #WorldofWarcraft

I think we'll end up getting second names and the new graphics stuff (though the latter will take more time to implement across the world). I do expect things to be quiet on retail until the new year though, when we see 12.2 hit PTR.

I think it started as just a joke to diminish T. Rex by linking it to such an unthreatening modern animal that we eat, but it would have been fairer to link them to cassowaries - which are genuinely terrifying and the closest living thing we have to a classic dinosaur.
