PSA: Discord is once again going forward with their "age assurance" bullshit. For real, this time. Fuck Discord.

Oddly enough, they still have me listed as editor, but no new pieces since my "Eternal Darkness" retrospective. Probably need to drop a note and tell them, "Take me off your goddamned masthead."

Threw up some more flash fic on my blog. It's funny, but I've kinda moved away from the r/humansarespaceorcs community as a writer. The stories are still worth saving, though. axelswritinglab.blogspot.com

@gandheezy.bsky.social, it's happening. It seems obvious in retrospect, but they're really calling in Dave Bautista. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd29...

@nomansbsky.bsky.social, saw the 10th anniversary trailer. "Cosmos," eh? What are you cooking up now?

Election Day thoughts, courtesy of Frank Herbert: "All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible..."

Quel surprise. The pet food CEO running GameStop doesn't care about games. Who would have suspected?

This would have occasioned not just a "fuck, no!" from me, but initiated an active effort to find every insider, cultivate any possible source, and locate every leaker I could from within Ubisoft to ensure they couldn't go to the bathroom without it being a major news story. Fuck you, Yves!

I'm torn. On the one hand, a mix of "Star Wars" and "XCOM" is definitely in my wheelhouse. On the other hand,I'm not a big fan of EA right at this moment. Might sleep on this one.

Far as fighting games go, I grew up more on "Street Fighter" and (later) "SoulCalibur." But I think I may have to take a serious look at "Virtua Fighter: Crossroads." If nothing else, it'll scratch an itch I've been missing since "Sleeping Dogs."

"Guild Wars 3" was not on my bingo card. Looks like it's going to be a rather serious departure from its forebears.

Hmmmm..."Crossfire" looks like it could either be really, really good. Or really, really awful.

Haven't played a lot of "Gundam" games before, but "Gundam: Rogue Orbit" looks to be an interesting take.

The teaser for "Gen Atlas" isn't quite hitting the same notes as "The Last Guardian" did for me so long ago. But it's still looking like a title to keep an eye on.

90k words on a first draft after about three months (give or take a week or two). Not a bad run. Now to let it marinate for a month or so and then, the editing pass.

With the acquisition of GameLuster (by parties unknown), it would seem that my time there is over. I loved working there, and I remain in contact with all of my (now former) colleagues. I look forward to the next chapter, whatever that may be.

So, yeah. Been trying to resurrect my writing blog, showcasing my skills, that sort of thing. This latest post was initially based off a writing prompt, but also flavored a little bit with my experiences from "Terra Invicta." Enjoy! axelswritinglab.blogspot.com/2025/05/flas...
