It was really fun timing! I ended up using the crowquill while I was working on the traveling chest art. It can make some really delicate lines that were nice for the small details on that one.

In between work projects, I've mostly been doodling portraits of npcs for a blades '68 game I'm gm-ing soon. Also featuring some characters from an ongoing 2-person starforged game, while I'm sharing sketches.

I've been telling everyone I know irl this story, but I needed reference photos for this spot art and rediscovered a book on Pen Drawing from 1899 that I apparently own. I bought dip pen nibs based on its recommendations, and the gillott 659 crowquill is indeed really nice.

Hayley and Vee of @storybrewersroleplaying.com told me I could draw whatever I wanted for one of the Good Society 2E kickstarter illustrations, and girls exchanging fond and flirty glances while playing a square piano was the first thing that came to mind. Really self-indulgent, this one.

Since I can't share things from my ongoing project yet, instead I'm going to brag about the late-19th century snail inkwell I've been using to draw it. Found this thing at a nearby "bottle show" for a fairly good deal, and I love it soooo much. Delightful object.

I feel a little frustrated when I see aspirational posts along the lines of "2026 is gonna be better I can feel it" cause it feels so dismissive of the current situation. But. But for myself & others I hope we can find energy in hope in the new year. I hope we can create/fight for/find more joy.
