An absolute beauty of a Red-Shouldered Hawk. Sitting in the most perfect of settings as it scans for it's next meal. I was so thrilled to be able to capture this moment which only lasted a few seconds. #birds #photography #nature #autumn 🍁🪶

Fields of gold now shine radiant in Nashville as the wildflower super bloom peaks at Shelby Bottoms Park. Pollinators dance and flutter from flower to flower with no short of pollen. Please enjoy some of my best shots from a quick tour around the loops. #nature #photography

Some chatty Prothonotary warblers were bouncing around some brush next to the water at @radnorlake this morning. Conversing and touching beaks in greeting while hunting for some green grubs. #birds #photography

The American Robin, which is one of the most widely recognized songbirds of the thrush family, can be found just about everywhere in the US. They eat just about any soft invertebrates, as pictured here with an earwig in its beak. #birds #photography

Meet The Double-Crested Cormorant. They are a semi-aquatic fishing bird that looks somewhat prehistoric. They have matted feathers which lack oil secretions like some aquatic birds. This is why you'll often find them in trees, sunning themselves to dry off. #birds #photography

When I first walked up to the marsh area next to the lake, I saw a medium sized blue bird. It spotted me and immediately took off. This is a Belted Kingfisher. An extremely shy individual who must be weary of people, and I can't blame him, I am too. 😆 #birds #photography #naturephotography

Something that isn't talked about too often is that hummingbirds will feed on small insects for protein in their diets. This helps keep them flying while moving their wings at 80 beats per second! #birds #photography

Today, a first for me in the warbler birding photography world. A Northern Parula was hopping around from branch to branch looking for a bite to eat. Truly, a hidden gem among the beautiful green growth at Radnor Lake Wildlife Refuge. #birdingphotography #nature #radnorlakestatepark

Sorry, I've been away Bluesky! Been spending time with family in Ohio. And now back to work in Tennessee... Let me tell ya, the drive to Ohio and back is very, very boring lol 😆 9 hours. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back out there for more wildlife photography.

The Blue-gray Gnatcatcher builds a nest that is intricately constructed from lichen, spider silk, and plant fibers, making it look like a knot on a tree branch. I'm blown away by the intricacies of some bird nests, and this certainly ranks up there. #birds #photography

So I made another trip to Radnor Lake yesterday and endured the high humidity and bugs. I was rewarded with a barred owl encounter in the parking lot. The owl was being dive bombed by a couple bold robins who were probably worried for their nest. #birds🐦🦉#photography #nature #wildlife

An American Bullfrog will eat anything it can fit into it's mouth. Ironically, so will a heron, which is one of the bullfrog's predators. You will find these true frogs near any permanent body of water. I photographed this big fellow just above the lagoon at @radnorlake #nature #photography

One of the most well known owls in Middle Tennessee is the Barred Owl. What makes owls so fascinating to humans? To me, I see them as guardians of the forest, and to see one is definitely a blessing. What do you find do fascinating about owls? 📸 Photo taken at Radnor Lake in Oak Hill, TN.
