Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs. However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

An infographic. There are six panels.

1. "Slow internet. Alt text is shown in place of unloaded images." a drawing shows a phone with poor signal, and alt text is visible where the image should have loaded.

2. "Findabillity. Alt text helps to search content." A drawing shows someone searching 'dog with banana' and a post is shown underneath without the words 'dog' or 'banana'. It is implied to be part of the alt text.

3. "Screen readers. Alt is read out to people using text-to-speech software". There is a drawing of the output a screen-reader would show when viewing an image with alt text on bluesky.

4. "Translation. Alt text can be translated". A drawing shows a post being translated. The alt text is also translated into german.

5. "Readability. Text in images can be made legible" There is a drawing of some truly awful handwriting inside a speech bubble. The alt text clarifies what the text is supposed to say.

6. "Disambiguation. Description helps clarify intent." There is a drawing of a post with a picture of a creature. This is styled after the famous optical illusion of a rabbit and a duck. The alt text clarifies that the animal is a rabbit. It definitely looks more like a duck.

A good list to block from @numb.comfortab.ly to prevent fascist propaganda from taking over BlueSky. bsky.app/profile/numb... Hit the "Subscribe" button and it will give you the option to block all the accounts on the list.

✨🔪 SLASH/ER 🖍️💫 #VOCALOID | #MAYU [song by @vocacircus.bsky.social | design by @ricedeity2.bsky.social]

A stylized painting of MAYU featured in the CircusP song, SLASH/ER. She is suspended against a dark chalkboard-like backdrop where she anxiously defends herself with a knife. Behind her, is a vague outline of herself, depicted with a joyous expression. The entire composition is decorated with colorful impressions of crayons and paint. (2021)

Keep making art. Keep writing your stories. Even if they must exist in secret for a time, they are important - each of them a little act of rebellion. Most of all, keep on living. If you can muster no other motivation on some days, then do it out of righteous spite for those who want you gone.

blueskitties it is of course fun to post on a website but i fear that some of you on this website are too ready to compliment it. if people aren't complaining about a platform it's not worth posting there. to an extent...it has to be bad to be good. that's the Rule. also unbeatable game wishlist now

stargazer commission #art

A simple waist-up drawing of a calm rather sleepy pink drow with blue-yellow heterochromia sitting with a hand under the chin. Their hair is pale pink and wavy, reaching to collarbones, and inside of the hair, there's a subtle pastel galaxy of blue and yellow colors with purple stars. Their lips are lavender colored and they have star-shaped silver eyeshadows. They wear a long pink dress with a small vest decorated with silver jewelry, and puffy sleeves. Their hand, on which the chin is rested, have silver prosthetic fingers. The hair is veiled with subtle colors.
The background is gray purple with a cool purple circle behind the character. There's a white text that says "commission for @ dantii art" just next to their face. End ID.
