Fit check for my napalm era 🎉. This was as tricky as doing Rumi's miniatures, but hey, at least this time they all survived 🤣 #minipainting #kpdh #huntrix

Time to ignore the world and get some painting done 🎨. This time with some Mira from Kpop Demon Hunters, we'll see how that'll go... #minipainting #kpdh

Easily the toughest miniatures I have ever painted! Now on to painting my Mira and Zoey minis hehe. #Rumi #KPopDemonHunters #MiniPainting #KPDH Other pictures at www.instagram.com/p/DRo-9jACPe...
Picture of two hand painted Rumi miniatures, the lead singer from Huntrix, the fictional KPop group from KPop Demon Hunters. In both miniatures, Rumi is wearing her How It's Done Outfit, with her yellow jacket and black and pink shorts. She's holding on to her sword, shining in blue and pink. The platform she's on was painted in a dark blue with light blue waves on it, reminding the Honmoon.

I think this is turning really nicely. I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying that. #kpopdemonhunters #rumi

Okay gotta finish the day on a good note, I am *almost* done with the base coat for this mini, and it's not too bad so far.
Progress of one of the Rumi miniatures. There's mostly some details left to do on the shorts & jacket, plus the sword and the base.

Tried to take a picture with the white painted, and the whole mini with the glass pot I was using to hold it fell on the floor. Took ten minutes to find a missing leg, tried to glue it back, broke the leg in a different place, I'm giving up on this specific Rumi 🤣. I guess I'll buy it again one day.

New house, new room, new brushes, and it's #minipainting time, but the first course of action is gonna be to reglue Rumi's sword because *gasp* it broke again 🥲. #kpdh

Another bookclub book,Terre des hommes by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry! Well, other folks in the book club read it in English, but I read it in French, which made for funny discussions (I was a bit surprised by some translation choices aha). Interesting read, especially for the aviation aspects...

Okay that's gonna be good enough for the base of Rumi's jacket, there are plenty of details to add but it'll have to wait for new brushes. Maybe I'll try the boots and shorts tomorrow, they are kind of a dark blue, but idk whether I'll just be lazy and go for black instead #kpdh

Hum, I think I'm gonna switch to a different yellow/orange, this one is slightly more orange than I wanted for Rumi's jacket, but it's easier to get good coverage without a thousand coats, and there's already enough to do with those minis 😅 #Huntrix #KpopDemonHunters

I went with the faerzress purple for Rumi's braid, which IMO does look good, and I have a yellow/orange that would go well for the vest, but I'm gonna have to do a bunch of coats for it to look good, and there's so many details that maybe I should wait for better brushes 🤔 #kpdh

*five hours later* okay, time to pick a purple for Rumi's braid, we got worm, beholder, or faerzress, pick your poison. The faerzress purple could give a flashy/bright one, which could be fun 🤔. But I do like the lavender vibe of the beholder purple... #kpopdemonhunters

Real talk, I considered doing all the minis at the same time, but now that I've done the skin of one Mira and the three Rumi, I think I'm just gonna do all the Rumi at first and then the Mira and then the Zoey. But first I need lunch lol.

Halfway through painting Mira's skin I said fuck it and ordered a bunch of even thinner brushes, including one called "the psycho brush", which feels appropriate. I'm gonna hate Mira's fingerless gloves. This is gonna be a big "trust the process" series, hum? #KPDH

Okay you all do not realize how much of a struggle this is gonna be for me, I lasted less than a minute with the Citadel Layer M brush, and not long later I had to switch from the Citadel Layer S to my Army Painter precise details, the smallest I've got. I'm using my jaw as a brush stabilizer. Help.

Also nobody is allowed to make fun of my mini holders, I swear that yogurt glass pot + blu tack works so much better than the citadel holder I bought ages ago and I am not sorry about this.

Okay, I'm 2h into C4E4 and fighting for my sanity, so I guess it's a perfect time to try to paint those Huntrix minis. (Brennan Lee Mulligan, what are you doing to me #CriticalRole) (I'm anxious about finding the right colors for Mira & Rumi's hair, honestly #KPDH)
My whole painting set-up, with brushes, paints, a wet palette, and all the minis fixed on top of glass pots. There's also a tablet with critical role on it, and some papers with the Huntrix girls printed on it for color reference.

Okay, now all is glued and primed, imma let that dry for a bit and get some dinner, then I guess I'll have to start thinking about colors 😅. Easy peasy. #kpdh #polytrix #huntrix

Not gonna lie, the details are pretty good, we'll see whether they'll stay post painting. I'm curious whether whoever made the 3D printing model just took the Fortnite model and went with that or did something else. Won't complain in any case lol. #kpdh

Oh my God they are there 🤩😍🥰. So tiny though, they look more fragile than my usual minis, so that's gonna be a ✨challenge✨ to paint. And some tiny surfaces to glue to a base, hopefully it'll still work 🤞. Which one should I start with 👀? #kpdh #polytrix #kpopdemonhunters

Got surprised by the rain while cycling to work 😔. But also, hey, new haircut 😀.
Selfie in the work bathroom lol. I can't see anything anymore from my glasses, my coat is drenched, my hair wet, and the only reason my face doesn't look too red is because I put a filter on this pic lol.

Low-key stressed out, but this 3h choir is totally gonna be fun, right? I have never sung in a choir, but the Gaia Music Collective in London with a KPop demon hunters arrangement? Couldn't miss it.

Forgot to update the thread, but this was my book club book for October! Wasn't fond of it: there were some good ideas, but the style really didn't work for me 😅. Spent too much the book being confused!

Just got to watch a very beautiful documentary about the coast I grew up on, and damn, I miss it 🥺. It's just so pretty, I need to go back more often (and when the weather is nice so we can actually go for a walk lol). I miss the salted wind in my face 🥲.

Is written on the picture: "Échappées belles - Côte d'Opale - Entre Vents et Marées", which stands for "Beautiful Escapes - Opal Coast - Between Winds and Tides"

Ink Blood Sister Scribe was genuinely a nice surprise. A few things at the beginning felt a bit awkward, but the plot kept me on my toes, and I grew very fond of the three PoVs we got. Fantasy mystery about magic books and blood inks. Obviously I love Esther (gay and can kick some ass!).

The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers is the Sept book for the queer bookclub I'm considering attending in town. It was interesting, to say the least. Coming of age story in the 40s, I liked the main character but boy there were a few uncomfortable moments... I think I'll read the play too.

Eve by Cat Bohannon is an absolute must-read. Funny, well sourced, and fascinating, Eve covers million years of human evolution while venturing the female body, giving a fresh perspective on how we became today's humans. I will be pondering it (and coming back to it) on a regular basis 💯.
Cover of Eve: How The Female Body Drove 200 Million Years Of Human Evolution by Cat Bohannon.

The bottom half is in a light green, with Eve written in big, and a lot of small line drawings within and surrounding the letters of Eve. Among those drawings are various trees, a primate (maybe a gorilla?) hanging from a tree, a pterodactyl flying, a hairy woman holding a child (aka some of our ancestors), and a city of tall buildings.

Two comments at the top of the book:
- "An epic combination of science and speculation that places women at the centre of history" Observer
- "Should revolution use our understanding of human life" George Monbiot

Cela s'appelle l'aurore.

Finally got to read the three recent comics from the Midst Cosmos. Really cool read, I loved that we got a story focused in the three parts of the cosmos (Un/Medium/Fold) and at different timeframe. Really nice drawings, fun stories, and now I can finally visualize what Midst look like 🤣.
The cover of Midst, Tales From The Cosmos, a collection of three comics in the Midst universe. A very busy cover, with a top half in beige tones and a bottom half in brown/purple tones, with a hard delimitation at the halfway line. This represents the split between the Un, the bright upper half of this Cosmos, and the Fold, the dark bottom in which mysterious phenomenons can randomly occur.
The center of the cover represents a 2D map of the Cosmos, with dark filled circles in the upper half representing islets floating in the Un, and beige filled circles in the bottom half representing islets floating in the Fold. At the center of the cover, a yellow filled circle halfway into the Un and halfway into the Fold, representing Midst, an islet rotating in both the bright Un and the dark Fold, a delimitation called the Medium.
At the bottom of the cover are three circles, named Medium, Un, and Fold. The Medium circle contains Post stamps from Midst. The Un circle contains a colorful trinket owned by the protagonist of the second story. The Fold circle contains a bug with long wings.
Below are listed the people who worked on these comics: Colin Lorimer, Jasmine Walls, Kendra Wells, Alejandro Aragon, Aviv Or, Vash Taylor, Chris O'Halloran, Quinton Winter, Valentina Bianconi, Jim Campbell.

Nice cute queer anthology that I got during JordanCon, as one of its authors was present (and had a bunch of very interesting panels). With how hectic the past week has been, it's been nice being able to read short stories during the little moments of downtime I had...
Cover of "Of Stardust", a queer fantastical anthology, edited by Avrah C. Baren. The cover is stunning, looking like a few superposed layers.
The back layer is a black sky with stars.
The next layer has straight rays of rainbow lights, starting from the center and going all around the cover, like colored spokes going through the colors of the rainbow.
The top layers are made of light blue clouds (the topper the lighter), with a bright yellow moon (or sun?) in the center.
The superposition of layers seems to give depth to the cover.

Exactly the feel-good book I needed today. Teenage romances are usually not my thing, but it was a cute and fun read, and I enjoyed the characters. This book almost made me wish I had gone to camp (before immediately remembering that I would have hated it lol).
Cover for "Wish You Weren't Here" by Erin Baldwin. It shows two girls standing in front of the entrance to a summer camp, with a sign above them indicating "Fogridge Sleepaway Camp".
The girl to the left is a black girl dressed in white, with a white suitcase behind her. Her hair is brown, with the end dyed white. She looks fancy, very influencer vibe.
The girl to the right is dressed casually, with a pink bag behind her. She's crossing her arms, giving an annoyed side look to the girl in white.

Good thriller set in the 1990s. Two main characters: a lesbian Detective Sergeant investigating the disappearance of a teenage girl, and a deaf woman whose past trauma is being brought back by the investigation. Intense, w/ CW for SA & child abuse. After Inter Alia yesterday, I'mma need a break 💀.
