Lots of reporters among both the heroes and their significant others. Terrible pay, brutal hours, tenuous job security but crucial to a functional society when done right

Mostly the existing album, except Flash looks distorted behind the glass. In the foreground, Mirror Master says “Now you’ve got more than sad puppies to sing about”

“I believe that you are the devil himself!” he cried. Holmes smiled at the compliment. 😈 (from The Adventure of the Devil's Foot)

Interesting. Gives me strong vibes of Shade, the Changing Man. But this cover came first. Looks like Steve was working through an idea

Do you mean the 1897 novel by Bran Stoker? Or a print adaptation of the 1992 movie Bram Stoker’s Dracula?

From Hulk to Superboy, what was the weird “pocket universe” obsession that ran through comics from the mid-80s to mid-90s?

Except Tom Cruise was 11 when it came out. Probably too young to be a lawyer

Just read Save Our Souls by Matthew Pearl, which recounts the Wandering Minstrel shipwreck and the struggle of its crew to survive. Mostly adults, but otherwise echoed Lord of the Flies in many respects

Makes me wish that the same named singer appeared in those movies. Then both Michael McDonalds could be killed by both Michael Myers. Make it happen!

Have you read this new Emily Brontë biography? Great sense of place. Lutz does an admirable job of illustrating the time period with her research. And of course, a biography of any one of the Brontë sisters is bound to be a biography of them all to a certain extent.

Ah. Even so, does that mean the first wave of action figures or are you willing to accept later designs (see Cobra Commander images)? What about the original 12” dolls from the 1960s? Is there a place for them? Or only the 3 3/4” action figures from the 1980s?

For a second, I thought that was Kevin Costner in For Love of the Game. But then I remembered, no, Costner was a pitcher

Is it a direct adaptation of the Errol Flynn movie or did the artist just use the movie for inspiration?

An Alfred movie based on the Golden Age backup stories that portrayed him as a bumbling wannabe detective. I’d watch it!

Not to be forgotten, there’s also the fully dramatized audio series “Moriarty: The Devil’s Game” starring Dominic Monaghan. Other than all of those examples, a Moriarty-centric story is definitely a “new spin.”

Compare it to the last issue of Starman where Jack retires to raise his son. Not saying Scott should have retired. But editorial could have given him a better option.

Who can lay claim to the catch phrase “The game’s afoot?” If your answer is Sherlock Holmes, you’re right! And if your answer is Shakespeare, you’re also right! Today being Shakespeare’s birthday, it’s as good a time as any to celebrate the rhetorical bond between the two literary icons.

The movie “Young Sherlock Holmes” contends that its hero developed the world’s first viable flying machine. Of course, that distinction actually belongs to brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright. Wilbur was born on this day in 1867.

Similarly, I'd love to visit any place connected to Doyle in the northeastern US where I live. The Adirondack cabin where he stayed in 1894 is gone, but I took a pic of the view. The current caretaker extinguished my hopes that a guest book with his signature might still exist

I know Woman of Tomorrow is the anointed title that inspired the forthcoming movie. But if it were up to me, I would have gone with Being Super. I thought it was terrific but I rarely hear any mention of it
