It's quite incredible how much Founders wrote down and how much of what they wrote down we still possess. Helps to cut back against ideas that, "ounders couldn't have foreseen X." No, not only could they have, they did. Again, the only thing they did not (seem) to foresee was a cowardly Congress.

All of those 10th Amendment Libertarians who were up in arms about federal mask mandates and the ACA are surely preparing to rebel any day now... I am certain of it!

Thank you for making the exact list that I would have made. Additionally would include: - Janet Mills (ME Gov) - coalition of blue state AGs - Tony Evers (WI Gov) - Bob Ferguson (WA Gov) - Jay Inslee (Ex-WA Gov) Still annoyed DNC didn't pick @benwikler.bsky.social who is also on the list.

go into the tm folder - TeleMessage - in the posted Android repo. github.com/micahflee/TM... That's where you can see, for example, the hardcoded token password that Micah posted. Weirdly the iOS version appears to just be a straight up copy; but the Android version is not.

Great example of what we're losing when we lose @polygon.com and its writers. You need to really understand these worlds, their art, and more to ask meaningful questions that you can then use to craft an article like this. Sad day...

“In journalism, there are really bad jobs. And then there is a place like Valnet,” a former Collider contributor told TheWrap. “[It’s] one of the worst places that I’ve ever worked and is probably one of the worst journalism publications I’ve ever seen.” 🪦Polygon. You were one of the good ones...

Very American attitude right now - "we do not need X, Y, Z system." (OSHA, NIOSH, NSF, USAID, CFPB, and also free trade, alliances, etc) Very European/Canadian/etc attitude right now - "we need X, Y, Z system. We just need to not depend on America as part of it." It's quite a stunning dichotomy.

Guess who just won the lottery?! Our farm box delivered 18 eggs as a dozen. Yes, I did email them to let them know and offered to pay for the 18... But still, in the moment, felt like a major win.

Also misunderstanding of scalability concerns. E.g., *one* person/family might do fine as a hunter-gatherer in a given area. But in typical influencer fashion, exception does not prove the rule. Quite the opposite. Hunting/gathering may work in an area only as long as *no one else does it.*

Just once, I want the interviewer to realize they are part of performance art. Stop being such a normie. "Well, I can be nice if you want. But they said you wanted the hard questions. They said you were fighter... Totally up to you though. They said you could handle any question, so..." He will bite

I am waiting for some "reporter" - possible names rhymes with Bohen or Clack - to go full Ali G. with Trump. "Dey said you answered the hardest questions. I was gonna go easy, but they said, nah, he's sharp." "Biden answered this question last time." Kamala played him like this. He always bites.

Revelations is very much not an abstract or theoretical concept to meaningfully large group of Americans. Even what I'd call "casual Christians" (celebrate typical holidays but no real familiarity with actual Biblical text) believe very much in here-and-now end-times existential crisis of same type.

Typically, Amazon has said this was never an actual thing they were planning to do. Only something Amazon Haul was considering in specific instances. So the WH just totally gave away that Bezos has bought zero loyalty from Trump (duh) over nothing. Will be funny if Amazon *now* actually does this.

"Amusing Ourselves To Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Showbusiness." Neil Postman. 1985. Orwell wasn't wrong about the *what* of 1984. He just missed the specifics of the *how,* which Postman captures in his more-relevant-than-ever book. Postman's son wrote a great addendum for internet age.

If you aren't willing to FO, then do *not* FA. (I hate so much that there isn't a simple EDIT button. But also understand it. And also need to remember to re-read what I write more carefully...)

Jordan Rapp @rappstar.bsky.social · 28/04/2025
This. You don't get to just do the "FA" part and then skip the "FO" part because it turned out badly for you. If you aren't willing to FO, then do FA.

Group chat with *disappearing messages*. Which seems a bit odd if you're trying to build established consensus. Trying to imagine Madison, Franklin, Jefferson with "disappearing letters." Established record is critical for so many things, but especially for actually documenting substance of ideas.

Also would be great if we could stop parroting their use of the word "deport" here. You cannot deport a citizen *out of* the country of their citizenship.
010
Jordan Rapp @rappstar.bsky.social · 27/04/2025
Reminder that you cannot "deport" a US citizen *from* the USA. There are other words to use like "rendition," "kidnap," and more. But "deport" is not one of them. You cannot deport a citizen *out of* the country of their citizenship.

And that assumes foreign nations/companies will even accept his reversing course as honest. Unlike with COVID, there's no reason any other country should presume a desire to return to status quo (reticent to use the word "normal") is genuine on part of USA or Trump.

Miele has a truly sterling reputation. if you can afford it, the consensus is pretty much to go for it. The price is 2x. But they also have 2x the warranty and expectation is that it will last 2x as long. I love the Bosch. But if I was really torn on the Miele. Just was out of my price range then.

I feel like we should use "believe" or "feels" instead of "thinks." Because Trump is not, fundamentally, a cerebral person. He's just instinctual. The Time transcript is really quite illustrative here - time.com/7280114/dona... Trump does not "think." About anything. Just "feels."

It is impossible to read this transcript and think, "yup, this guy is fully with it..." time.com/7280114/dona... Clearly entirely unaware of significant events and actions by his admin. Does have any concept of what most of the 130+ EOs say and mean? It's not at all clear he does.

FWIW, I bought WC's recommended-but-more-affordable pick - Bosch - several years ago and it has been fantastic. Big WC fan in general, but my own experience with their pick here - I used this guide - would give real confidence in the Miele. I was very close to choosing it, but 2x price was too much.

Mythological ubermensch who must be smart because he's rich cannot do basic arithmetic, and it's merely an afterthought to an actual US Congressional candidate spreading a crazy conspiracy theory on a site dedicated to right-wing propaganda.

I feel like if every other word was "illegally" we might be closer to the truth. I get that it reads awkwardly. But it's the truth. "Trump illegally directed the DoJ to illegally investigate ActBlue."

Feels very hopium. At the very least, there's still a massive amount of uncertainty, which at least historically, the market has disliked. The reasons for the drop made a lot of sense. The rally from the low point? Much less so.

Yeah, really one of the very few things that framers did not foreseen was congresspeople who were so terrified of being given a derogatory nickname on Twitter or of being primaried that they fully abdicated their power. It's the cowardice that I think is perhaps the only thing they did not foresee.
