This morning. Looking a little Silent Hill over here.

You also can't argue that the IP impact of an IP adaptation is significant when the sales impact on the source material is negligible. I don't know what these analysts are doing but they need more coffee. Or something.

Daily unit sales across all RE games went from 30k to 80k units. +50k units is nothing across 5 major games from a beloved 30+ yr old IP that are also on sale. We have sold more than 50k units of TLD in a single day more than once (once we sold nearly 200k units in a day). This is nothing for RE.

Love how misleading this headline is. When you dig into it the film's impact on the sales of RE games was negligible.

Spent some time in a few of my favourite places in London today.

The entrance to the V&A museum in London.

The main hall of the Natural History Museum in London. A large whale skeleton hangs from the ceiling of a great hall.

A statue of Ernest Shackleton, near the Royal Geographical Society building on Exhibition Row in South Kensington, London.

The Prince Albert memorial in Hyde Park.

Hey wait why is the signage in Russian in City 17 (HL Alyx)? I don't remember there being Russian text on posters and signs in HL2. I always thought of it as a generic Eastern bloc-inspired city location but not Russian outright. 🤔

Wow I can’t process how unfathomably boring this description of the theoretical StarCraft open-world shooter is. Like is this some kind of tourism simulator? Wtf?

Quick PSA, in case you missed out on the new WINTERMUTE posters we added to the store on Friday (they sold out pretty much immediately). They are back in stock. store.hinterland.com

Artwork showing all five episode posters for the WINTERMUTE story mode from THE LONG DARK. The text says: "Art: Wintermute Episodic Poster Series".

Why did I wake up so early this morning? … While chasing sleep, finally reading this.

A cover of Paul Kingsnorth’s novel, “The Beast”.

Another find while sorting through some old boxes.

Cleaning out the garage and came across this relic.

Back of a metal flask with the name “Company of Heroes” embossed.

Watching B-movies in the park. Tonight: THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, starring Vincent Price. The first film adaptation of Matheson’s excellent novella, I AM LEGEND, followed by OMEGA MAN and the Will Smith version years later.

Oh for sure, but creating deeply immersive games about exploring compelling worlds doesn't at all depend on powerful hardware. Look at BotW as an example -- thing runs on the WiiU for crying out loud.

I mean that’s weird because it’s made very clear in his own screenplay. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I agree that it’s fun to speculate/theorycraft when things have been left intentionally ambiguous (is MacReady The Thing at the end of the film?), but in this case the intention is very clear.

It’s a cute theory, but it’s not borne out by what we are clearly shown in the film. Including the presence of many tanks with many bodies in them. Duplication is 100% happening. Not strictly magic perhaps, but nothing mundane either.

Jealous of all the Canadians that get to see this on 70mm IMAX. Going to have to make the trek to the mainland for it. 👍🏻

My morning coffee today was sipped from a commemorative First Moon Landing mug (circa 1969).

Mug commemorating the moon landing, July 1969. Shows the lander and lists the names of the astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin, and Michael Collins.

Mug from 1969, commemorating the moon landing. Includes the quote, "We came in peace for all mankind."

Was not expecting that. It's been...2 yrs? (A very odd but surprisingly good show. Whatever you think the premise is, based on the trailers for S01, this is not the premise.)

How am I supposed to do serious stuff with these idiotic lights strobing in my face. It's too bad b/c the mic's audio is very good. But I think it's going back to the store.

I wonder when hardware manufacturers will realize that when you have the Mac logo on your product, it should work fully and properly on Mac. Just bought a HyperX Quadcast 2S and the software is for Windows only while the packaging clearly shows both the PC and Mac logos. Fuck you, HP!

FWIW, I can tell you confidently, @jonore.bsky.social, THE LONG DARK's Canadian setting has not hurt its commercial success. 10M+ units sold, and still going strong. Canada is only 5% of our audience. www.cbc.ca/news/enterta...

Good god is there another film as viscerally surreal as Tarsem's THE FALL? I'm not sure I've seen one. Every single frame is god-tier filmmaking. Just achingly beautiful.

Weird that so many videos seem to be crapping out on Bluesky lately. Seems to have become quite common over the past week or so? (Retrying doesn't do anything) Example:
