AI engineering means designing the context, runtime, and harness around agents so they run reliably, observably, and at scale. In my Redis webinar on May 28, I’ll focus on harness engineering: caching, session management, and rate limiting. RSVP: redis.io/resources/vi...

OpenAI dropped a tool to verify if an image has been AI generated. And LinkedIn is already using it to tag images that were AI made. The technology is grounded in two mechanisms. One that relies on metadata. Another that relies on imperceptible pixels. Read more: openai.com/index/advanc...

Happy to announce that I'm returning as the host of the Dutch Kotlin User Group in Amsterdam after a year and a half hiatus!

Bought more shares of Duolingo yesterday. I had previously bought it when learning Dutch a couple years ago and decided to do so again that I’m learning Japanese. Practicing something like one hour a day during a week and I can already read Hiragana. Love this app.

An agent deleted his prod db with one API call Backups were tied to same volume Least privilege. Environment isolation. Secret management. Backup isolation. Audit logs. Recovery testing. None of this is new The agent didnt invent a new failure mode. It compressed an old one into nine seconds

Started playing Eternal Darkness with a friend yesterday. A game released in 2002. We get stuck. I tell him to check ChatGPT. He checks YouTube instead. He’s not a technical person, he’s an airline pilot. What do you infer from that?

1/ Amidst so much change and uncertainty in the world, there's something grounding about waking up to a photograph like this. My dad watched men land on the moon in 1969, when he was only 8 years old. He's the reason I care about space exploration.

Yesterday, @bsbodden.bsky.social and I delivered our Designing Multi Agent Systems with Spring AI hands-on lab at JavaOne in San Francisco. More than 35 people showed up and it was the lab with most registrations of the day. 🙏🙌☕️ #java

The thing is that the longer the context window is the worse retrieval accuracy is as well. For GPT 5.4 that was released last week, you can see that accuracy is ~97% up to 32k tokens, but drops to ~36% when over 512k tokens. You can fit a million tokens, but GPT will not use it effectively.

It's difficult for me to believe that the cost of coding has got nearly to zero. Especially as someone who's been coding with agents consistently for almost one year.

Redis 8 just made KEYS and SCAN faster and safer Operations that used to take 12–14 seconds on large datasets can now complete in just a few milliseconds — making previously discouraged commands viable for in production. Read the full article at: redis.io/blog/faster-...

@anthropic.com says Claude helped NASA plan a 400m drive for Perseverance on Mars. For AI engineers, the lesson is: it was not a bigger model. It was context. Clear constraints. Domain knowledge. Structured outputs. Simulation. Human review. Reliability comes from system design.

How does it work for production? Does it spin up other pods in k8s? I'm currently using it in a workshop hub I'm building to make it easier for learners to discover, deploy, and go through hands on labs by themselves. All they need would be Docker. Not even an IDE. It's working fine for now.

Docker-in-docker powered by SpringBoot. How cool is that?! A complete hands on lab with no IDE required, no environment setup, no git pull, and no friction. Just open it and start building. #javabubble

LLMs may get expensive fast. At the same time, vector DBs (eg Redis) are versatile but underutilized I delivered a talk at JFall yesterday about three strategies that can be implemented with vector DBs to reduce LLM calls. But the truth is that there are many more! #java github.com/redis-develo...

Can artificial intelligence do basic math? I was listening to Anthropic's recent video "How AI Models Think" based on their research on interpretability and found a few insights very interesting. One for example is that there's evidence that LLMs can do simple math (addition).

5/ What if I hadn't set it up? It wouldn't have been catastrophic because I have daily backups. A snapshot of my Redis Instance is stored in Google Cloud Storage every 24 hours. Redundancy is key! The best part? On Redis Cloud that can all be set up automatically easily. Took me only 10 minutes.

3/ Luckily, I had set ACL (Access Control List), available since Redis 6.0. Easy to set up and block accounts from running "@dangerous" commands like "FLUSHALL"

1/ "NOPERM User user:209 has no permissions to run the 'flushall' command" That's the message I got when running "FLUSHALL" on my production Redis instance. 😮‍💨 My team and I developed an internal platform for us to track our work. The chosen database? Redis, of course. #redis @redis.io

It’s important to note that GPT-5 doesn’t generate images. Underlying, it’s still the GPT-Image-1 released in April 2025 model that’s generating the images.

I see a lot of people generating images to test GPT-5 capabilities, but it’s important to note that GPT-5 does NOT generate images. It’s still the GPT-Image-1 model released in April of this year that is generating the images.

🚀 GPT-5 is out — and that’s AMAZING news for RAG. Every time a new model drops, people declare “RAG is dead” because of bigger context windows. This time they’re also pointing to better accuracy with massive token counts. Let’s talk about why they’re wrong. 🧵
