Has anyone already started to compare Zohran Mamdani and Troy Jackson? Well, they might have things in common when it comes to policies and politics. But as far as *personal styles* are concerned...
Four photos in two rows: First, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, smiling; second, Maine Senate candidate Troy Jackson, showing a dour face (in a photo taken from his official campaign website); the two photos in the second row are the well-known meme of the movies Barbie and Oppenheimer, with Margot Robbie as Barbie and Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer.

The standard arm-wrestling meme. The Black arm is labeled: "certain parts of the Left". The white arm is labeled: "conservatives". The meeting of the hands is labeled: "don't believe the world has ever gotten, or will ever get, significantly less oppressive".

OK, this classic is a bit beyond his mid life crisis, but still a classic of summing up the type:
Three panels from the classic 1977 comic volume "Asterix and Caesar's Gift". In an ancient Gaulish village, a very old man, named Geriatrix in the English translation, makes an angry political speech to an audience consisting of two confused children and a confused rooster (I think). He shouts: "My Friends, these are troubled times! What do we see confronting us? On the one hand, foreigners trying to take us over! On the other, a week, apathetic Chief! Friends, I offer myself for election! As your Chief, I shall be energetic!! Tough! Inflexi..." From outside the frame, his wife interrupts him, calling out: "Geriatrix, Lovey, come on home! You'll catch your death of cold!"

Want to trend twice at the same time on Bluesky? Put a diacritic that confuses speakers of diacritic-free languages into your name!
The top two Bluesky trending topics, which, when this was taken, were "Mbappe" and "Mbappé".

Reminds me of a meme thing I made a while ago:
The standard arm-wrestling meme. The Black arm is labeled: "certain parts of the Left". The white arm is labeled: "conservatives". The meeting of the hands is labeled: "don't believe the world has ever gotten, or will ever get, significantly less oppressive".

Movie/novel/short story/graphic novel pitch?
An excerpt from a screenshot showing trending topics on Bluesky, at a moment when the top three of them are "Summer Solstice", "Labour Party", and "Film Noir".

Did routine medical procedures that haven't changed much in the interim - births, basic tests, ambulance rides, etc. - cost as much, adjusted for inflation, back then? This whole debate is nicely illustrated by something I saw someone post over on Mastodon:

(I hope a bit of light-hearted snark on unrelated things isn't wrong at a moment like this.) From Flathub, a place offering Linux apps. What, an invention called "Clocks" which allows you to *keep track of time*? Amazing! What will they think of next?
A screenshot of a website showing a search result for the search term "clocks", with the first result consisting of a logo showing a simple old school clock with arms, the word "Clocks", and the explanation "Keep track of time"

Why, yes, there were several days when I didn't get around to doing any dishes, so I've got to catch up now, why do you ask?
A pile of freshly washed dishes drying slowly next to a sink.
