#RankedChoiceVoting means the winner has to get over 50%: Vote for your favorite candidate first. Rank your backup choices next. If your first choice is in last place, your vote moves to your next choice. This repeats until someone wins with over 50%.

Here’s the key thing to remember about #RankedChoiceVoting: Rank your favorite first. Rank your backup choices next. If your first choice is in last place, your vote simply moves to your next choice. That process repeats until a candidate wins with over 50%.

#RankedChoiceVoting is simple. Just remember Shealia’s rule: One in each column. One in each row. Do not give the same ranking to more than one candidate. Do not rank the same candidate more than once. Pick your favorite first, then rank your backups in order. That’s it.

A lot of voters have real questions about what changes with #RankedChoiceVoting and how it affects politics. That is exactly why voter education matters. #DCPolitics

She thought #RankedChoiceVoting was complicated. Then she saw how it works. Pick your favorite first. Rank your backup choices next. Only rank each candidate once, and only rank candidates you actually support. That’s it.

Sometimes something sounds complicated until somebody shows you how simple it really is. That’s what this work is about. Breaking #RankedChoiceVoting down in a way that feels clear, familiar, and useful so voters feel ready when they get to the ballot.
