My most exciting discovery at Gamescom was fighting game Gods of Muay Thai, seen at the Thailand booth in the business area. I hope we’ll see more devs explore local culture in the future, instead of using ‘universal’ (read: western or Japanese) gaming tropes, almost as a default.

We called them ‘turned sailors’, not to be confused with sailors finishing their regular Turns. You ran into them in the wine joints and brothels of the port towns, and recognized them by their drunken appraisal of some amazing discovery, or by their forlorn inward expression. Some turned into zealots, chanting about how the Great Washing was upon us, as if any land slug knew what that meant. Others were bound for the asylums the moment they disembarked. Of those who completed their Turn with their minds intact, many found an untimely end in drunken bar fights, or at the end of a self-knotted rope.

Spent the weekend at a songwriting camp in Sweden. Recommend any writer to try to write with musicians, if only as an exercise. To be able to craft engaging stories and make them sing within a musical framework can be incredibly rewarding.
