Just saying its not a dumpster fire doesn't actually make the dumpster stop burning.

So inadequate supplies and staffing are completely unsolvable problems that properly allocated money would have no effect on?

The problem with that analogy is that most people wouldn't be paying for the full cost of the pony, their ponies would be subsidized by wealthier stable owners. The fact that the wealthy stable owners convince them they'd need to pay for the whole pony isn't really indicative of their politics.

No I get that, I just think its a b.s. claim. People can still tell the difference between someone setting quiet hours and someone shooting protesters and only bad faith actors will pretend that some idiot calling the former fascism means they dont have to be concerned by the latter being fascism.

I really dont see the difference, sorry. Conservative labeled everything from actual trotskyites to giving money to cancer research as communism, yet somehow we still the cold war. People in dorms calling quiet hours fascist are silly, but they're not enabling fascism by doing it.

Would you say the word communism has no meaning anymore too then? Or does a word only lose its meaning when its overused by liberals rather than conservatives?

I'm sure when they do prove you wrong you'll still come up with a rationalization why you were right all along still 🙄

You do get that rationalizing isn't actually being rational, right?

77% of voters 35 and under who voted for Biden in 2020 turned out and voted Harris in 2024. 77% is a large majority, but yes that 23% made a difference (along with big losses from Hispanics, more moderate losses in nearly every other demographic, and Trump turning out infrequent voters in his favor)

No, I mean like Obama who filled literal stadiums, or JFK who also drew historic crowds. Bernies crowds were never all that big, but nice strawman.

I'm not making a judgement on them, just noting their existence as a politcal reality. Calling them fools won'tstop them or make them not exist.

randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
The large majority of them will still vote for the nominee. But yes, some would not and that's a cost that needs to be priced in when considering nominating said preferred candidate. Just like if you nominate a <non-standard trait here> candidate it might cost you some "swing voters".

randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
What gets more people to vote? Being excited about the candidate, maybe? And sorry that facts dont agree with your feelings and you bought the Fox propoganda, but yeah, Biden did set the record for deportaions all four years he was president, and 90% more than first term Trump did.
100
randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
The young people aren't threatening not to vote, they're just saying they're not going to vote for your preferred candidate. There's a difference there that your trying to breeze right past.
110
randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Except Biden was tough on the border, and actually set the record for number of deportations prior to Trump. You're the one living in fantasy make believe land if you don't think a politicians ability to excite a crowd matters to their chan es of winning an election.

Both were boring centrist women. And despite how much boring centrists want to reduce Biden to just being an old boring centrist, he actually was alot more than that. But go ahead and keep learning all the wrong lessons and see how it works out for you.

randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
No, its that if its fair to say wr can't nominate a gay or Jew because "political reality" then you need to also accept that you cant nominate a bland milquetoast centrist either because of that exact same "political reality".

You never miss a chance to trash Dems even when its bs. There are only 20 GOP senate seats up for election this year. Gaining 5 seats like that would mean winning 25% of the current GOP senate seats up for election. Only someone like you could think that means Dems are the ones with a brand problem.

randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Its funny how its "political reality" when its something like being gay or Jewish, but its "letting fascists win" when its something like being old and out of touch or uninspiring as a candidate that people find disqualifying about a potential dem candidate...

randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Kelly has the credentials but lacks the charisma and speaking presence typical of a presidential candidate. If we're going to include gay and Jewish as disqualifies, "speaks like a uninspiring consultant" should also be disqualifying.

The probability distribution isn't just defined by the training data though. It is also influenced by the previous random results. Give two instances of the same llm the same training data and the final probability distribution of the two llm instances will not be the same.
110
randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
Look man, I hate AI too, but yeah, a core principle of LLMs is that they use randomness to generate results. Saying they programmed them to do these things is like saying you programmed a craps game to roll a 7. You programmed a roll of a dice, but the actual result is still down to random chance.

Not exactly, its more accurate to say that they are arguing that they have a constitutional right to decide what criteria members of their association need to meet in order to remain members of their association. Or that they can't be forced to keep a member who refuses to follow the rules.

Not playing the hit-the-moving-target game. The claim that I'm disagreeing with was that leftists represent a tiny minority of voters, not that DSA candidates can't win close races (which is something we won't know for certain until after the general).
110
randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
If that were actually true would centrists be losing primary after primary to leftists like they have been? Seems to me those are pretty clear indications that the centrists aren't the majority that they think they are.
210
randyt72.bsky.social @randyt72.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
While I agree that centrists have largely held the line against the fascists, I think you're ignoring alot of the high profile centrist betrayals that have happened so far in Trump's second term and that too many centrists still want to be a part of the same social clubs and circles as the fascists.

Being elected to a congressional seat representing Detroit as a D is not really a major test of political mettle or an indicator that they have the political chops for a statewide race.

I'll agree with all of this except the "ran a good campaign" part. Here in Nevada we had literal months of unopposed GOP advertising blanketing the airwaves before we got any Harris ads, and the Harris ads we did get were pretty cringe and overloaded with Consultant Speak.

Okay, but just like your argument that if you force people to choose between communists and fascists, dont be surprised when alot of them choose fascists; if you force a choice between elitists and populists, dont be surprised when alot of people end up voting for the populists.

Good luck educating cultists, its not like that hasn't been tried for the last 20 years only to see the cult get worse and worse every step of the way. Theres also nothing that says a total defeat in a world war is required to do any of what I said, but I get you're not one for nuance. ✌️
