People get really lazy in their treatment of Octavia Butler's work. The point wasn't for everyone to crown her some seer and wish she was still here to tell us what's coming next. She gave the instructions in her writing because she followed patterns and history. We can all do that.

What really irritates me about the US labor movement is the virulent racism dressed as "I'm too radical to see color." If you're happy to "build bridges" with eugenicists for "the greater good" I'm not interested in being around you. Its not an accident that these "labor" spaces are so white 🙄

I’ve encounter a good bit of people who preach about the lack of community but don’t do anything to maintain a community. Community takes work from all parties, it can’t be something nurtured only on your terms. You have to show up for folks and vice versa.
