Don't miss the Lévy Lecture at SPA '26 next Thursday! Our very own Nathanaël Berestycki will speak on the spectral geometry of Liouville quantum gravity. #levylecture #spa2026 #newyork

picture of nathanaël quote "I am deeply humbled to be named for this lecture, whose list of previous speakers includes so many figures whom I greatly admire and have so considerably shaped our field. It is particularly nice and maybe even emotional for me that this will take place in Cornell University, where I was a PhD student! And of course, I am excited to be given the opportunity to report on my recent progress concerning the spectral geometry of Liouville quantum gravity, a topic which I find immensely beautiful."

"We are past the age of discovering new land in a literal sense, but [maths] is the equivalent: seeing new things that maybe no one has seen before. That's my main motivation: to explore, to find, and to understand more." Congrats to Marcin on being named Associate Professor of Probability Theory.

A decade of labour went into this book! Nathanaël received the physical copy of his book Gaussian Free Field and Liouville Quantum Gravity published late last year. He and co-author Ellen Powell were inspired ten years ago in Cambridge. Order here 👉 www.cambridge.org/core/books/g...

Our paper on percolated graphs is a compelling example of how combining ideas from combinatorics, probability, and statistical physics can lead to new insights.

Our approach is based on the initial insight that, in expectation, the problem behaves like the Ising Model. Link in comments 👇
