I'll be reporting from Queen's Park this week, as the Ontario Legislature enters its final week before the winter break. Stay tuned! (It's also very festively decorated!)

If you read the ERO posting for this, you'll also notice the government is asking for feedback on the map, rather than on the actual plan to shrink conservation authorities. #OnPoli #dougford #ontario

Hairy Woodpecker The best way to tell Hairy and Downy woodpeckers apart is their beak length. A Hairy Woodpecker will have a longer beak, roughly half the size of its head, while a Downy Woodpecker will be smaller and have a shorter beak. #birds #birding #wildlifephotography #wildlife #nature

Painted Turtles are one of the most common turtles found in North America. Their range extends from the United States all the way into Canada. Most of these Painted Turtles will likely be burrowed in for the winter now, a process known as Brumation. #turtles #reptiles #wildlife #nature #photography

Female Grosbeak The female is less colorful than the male an evolutionary adaptation for camouflage. Females spend more time on the nest. The darker colouration helps them blend into their surroundings keeping them and their young safe from predators #birding #birds #wildlifephotography #wildlife

Eastern Towhees will spend most of their time on the ground, as this is where they forage for food. They will typically scratch their feet and legs backwards to stir up the leaf litter. This is known as "double-scratching" #birds #birding #photography #naturephotography #wildlifephotography
