1 surprising thing I learned when I was writing my manifesto for the Comics Devices Library is that reading comics - or rather, reading images in sequence to construct and apprehend meaning - is itself a difficult and unique literacy + comprehension skill that does not come naturally to most people.

Health IT heavy weights talking about how messy healthcare data seems to directly highlight some big public health challenges. If 90% of your time is spent cleaning the data in a low resource environment, that is an even bigger problem, especially across many healthcare data sources. #ASTP2024

Generative AI is being trained on medical histories, and are biased due to that data. How do you measure bias in AI? How do I monitor based on that definition? You can't manage what you don't know, so transparency is criticial. #ASTP2024

Mildly entertained by this demonstration – particularly the simulated case review in which cases with uneventful outcomes were rated as appropriate care 100% of the time, but cases with poor outcomes were rated as appropriate only 15% of the time. Almost too human! ai.nejm.org/doi/10.1056/...
