I've posted many C64 SID to SN76489 conversions previously. These are pre-processed register dumps with large memory footprints and need compression / SWRAM. What you're seeing here is actual SID playback with dynamic SN76489 conversion. A game changer thanks to @kieranhj.bsky.social's AKS work.

Lots of negativity about the price of the steam machine and PC hardware, but this is like a reversion to how it was 30+ years ago. In 1992 when I bought an Amiga 1200, accelerator/RAM card, and a hard drive it cost £670 or about £1500 today. Maybe cheap hardware was the anomaly, not the norm.

Apologies for the ongoing issues with Tindie. It now looks unlikely the site will recover from its current problems any time soon. My devices can still be purchased via ebay, links are on the product pages: ramtop-retro.uk

This might not look like much, but it's 149KB of uncompressed VGM data streaming from disk on a BBC Micro with a total of 32KB of memory. Next I'll add the inflate decompression to the streaming and hopefully playback to the SN76489. 🤞

Apologies to anyone trying to buy my devices from Tindie. The site went down for over a week, came back up, went down again, and is a complete disaster right now. 😩

Today was a good day, I built this Electron turbo card upgrade by @ramtopretro.bsky.social shame I can't close the case thanks to a previously installed heatsink. Will be making 4 more soon. #retro #acornelectron

It's done! I have just released the Compendium version of #Elite for the #Acorn #Electron. This massively enhanced version of the original game contains pretty much every feature of #BBCMicro Elite, but on the Electron. Just add 16K of sideways RAM. Links in thread. #retrocomputing #retrogaming

My new project is an all-singing, all-dancing version of #Elite on the #Acorn #Electron. It's early days, but I'm really enjoying it. So here’s a thread about the wonderful community hardware and software I'm using to port #BBCMicro Elite to the Elk. (1/7) #retrocomputing #retrogaming #8bit

Atari Missile Command for the Acorn Electron + 16k of sideways RAM. Progress remains good, moving as much as possible out of the main memory map into the SWR memory space to get the fastest speed possible. No sound at present, going to be a challenge to emulate a POKEY chip on here.

Multi-part tunes via SWRAM banks are now working on the BBC Micro Music Player & Driver. I can finally play lengthy conversions such as Rob Hubbard's epic Knucklebusters track at nearly 17 minutes. Time to put some new music disks together...
