Book 4 of 2026. Black Elk Speaks by John G. Neihardt Although the main story isn’t very long, it’s a deeply personal and emotional glimpse into a forgone time, when the Oglala Lakotas were coming to terms with the loss of their way of life at the hands of the invading US conquerors. #booksky

Book 3 ‘Acquainted With The Night’ by Christopher Dewdney several mini-epiphanies going from one subject to another. Made me think of nature, navigation, language, music, love, movies and religion through a whole new lens. #Booksky

Book 2 of 2026 A collection of thoughts and reflections originally written on scraps of paper as he survived day-to-day on the Paris streets, only organized afterwards. The stories of the destitute living in post-WWII Paris are told with such vivid language. #Booksky

Book 21 of 2025. ‘This book is to be neither an accusation nor a confession, and least of all an adventure, for death is not an adventure to those who stand face to face with it.’ I must say the writing is incredible. had me putting the book down and spending time reflecting on what I just read.

Book 20 of 2025 We learn how Jim Crow reared its ugly head, how PTSD led to generational trauma, and how debauchery was allowed to fester among G.I. ranks, leading to issues such as addiction and domestic violence. there are success stories too an excellent, well researched book.

Book #19 of 2025 First and foremost…Free Palestine. This book is a scalding critique of the hypocrisy of “the West” (USA included), of the Empire, and how that hypocrisy makes the Empire both possible and powerful. it should be required reading for anyone who calls themselves a patriot.

Book #18 of 2025.The ‘oral history’ approach is fun and unique, but the one thing that bugged me was there wasn’t a whole bunch of variance between the interview subjects/characters. I still think it’s a must read if you’re into Zombie things, like I am. 🔥🔥🔥 of 5 flames

Book #17 or 2025. Even as my enjoyment of the NFL was waned considerably, and my disdain for Jerry Jones is comically high, I still love this book. meticulously researched and presented in a way that wasn’t overly critical or reverential of this dynasty; a perfect “decide for yourself” story.

Book #16 of 2025. a “best hits” collection but was still easy to digest. Although he’s a white middle class gay dude (all of which I am not) his stories were very relatable as they were related to family, love, and other universal themes.

Book #15 of 2025. What a splendid read that covered basically all the human emotions and themes. Love, hate, redemption, perseverance….i could go on. At times i loved the main character, at times I was annoyed with him. But that’s sort of what we all are…complex, imperfect beings.

Book #14 of 2025. A anthropological look into the spiritual practice of shamanism from its origins at the dawn of human civilization to the present day. It even tackled the question that I started to have as I read… was Jesus Christ a shaman? I’m gonna vote YES 4/5 flames 🔥 🔥🔥🔥

Book #13 of 2025. I’d call it “hauntingly beautiful”, and I found myself pretty sad when it was done. A story about the fragility of memory and its connection to the human identity. Even though it was written 30 years ago, it still feels like a timely critique of modern times #booksky

Book #12 of 2025. I really enjoy how much darker and doomed the book is compared to the movie. The line that hits hard in both versions, and basically tells the overall theme: “your scientists became so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn’t stop to think if you SHOULD!”. #booksky

Book #11 of 2025. A clear and concise story of how the physical characteristics of countries and nations affects their strengths and vulnerabilities and ultimately the decisions made by their leaders. So many “ah-ha” moments. So many instances were I learned something new
