I think my art is not that good, so I try to compensate with nice panelling and a pretty fucking weird story

But the best part was: Damn if I didn't make some good friends along the way... and made some people buy and read Wolfe books! 🖤

1261

Ramonkey Perales @ramonkey.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

It holds some neat 4.5 stars on Goodreads and has received praise from both Wolfe and comics fans for over two years. To my knowledge, you still can purchase the last units at Strangers'site (link below) And maybe then we can reprint it some day... Cheers strangerspublishing.com/products/boo...

It follows the voices in the head of a member of the Sequentialists Guild, who needs to immortalize said stories in a book yet to be written in the distant future. And it looks amazing inside and out.

Book of Fuligin is a weird sci-fantasy comics anthology in honor of Gene Wolfe that me and a bunch of excellent artists created in 2022-24. I realized that many people who follow me here don't know about it, so it's time to change that.

You need to try Ship Shaper demo, man. Super fun to mess around and it lets you export the 3D model and even use it for printing, no copyright. Gotta love indie devs. . . . (on the left, my design, on the right, what the demo lets you make)

This will include the original Ash Corvus story, the Lullaby of the Swift and the Goat, the Greb anthology Corvus story and the Book of Fuigin one. Likely more than 250 pages (probably more than 300...)

In an attempt to preserve my first work online, I will upload it to the great and free site of ComicFury in the near future. When I'm finished with Down North next year, I will gather all these stories (published and unpublished) in an anthological format. This was my dream more than 6 years ago.

A closer look at the stratiotai, the bulk of the ranks of the Empire of Ile. In the first image, a katepano watches over the final gasps of a battle against Justiciáticans. The second image shows them resting before said battle, under the ever-vigilant fly of two apii.

It might be messy, with a bunch of different genres thrown together; but in the end, that was what I was aiming for, and I think these stories deserve to be translated and told again. Maybe together, in one big book?

Ramonkey Perales @ramonkey.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

Back in 2019 I started a webcomic. I always thought about it as part of a larger story... and here I am, SEVEN years later, still writing "sequels" in that shared universe. Now, the thing that started it all seems "antiquated" to me; but maybe it deserves to be shown still. Right?
