D9. The MC is probably the most cynical - though most people would probably be cynical when presented with time travel as fact rather than fantasy. Unless you're a quantum scientist or a bent politician in my story, you're going to doubt what the powers that be are telling you. #timetravelauthors

And, of course, the events are all connected.

D7. “It was rhetorical, Olssen, I know where he’s been. I also know about an aborted kidnapping, a corpse on the hotel driveway and a fugitive scientist. This has been a deeply embarrassing day for British security and you'd better have some damned good explanations...” #timetravelauthors

Haha. Now you both know. Artistic licence at its finest.

Because there wasn't a real Civil War battle in the part of Somerset where the story is based. 😆

D5. Some of the characters pass through a time vortex and find themselves in the middle of an English Civil War battle. This particular battle didn't really happen - I made it up - but I like to think the details of 17th century warfare are correct and compelling. #timetravelauthors #timetravel

D3. Dent imagined ethereal voices in the fog as he slogged up the hill, only getting the fear under control when they reached level ground. I’m a scientist, he thought impatiently, ghosts don’t exist and even if they do, they can’t harm me. Those trackers on the other hand… #timetravelauthors

Thanks guys. I like writing stuff like that.

D1. Whispers in the undergrowth, childish giggles and figures in his peripheral vision that disappeared whenever he looked directly at them. A company of skeletal roundhead soldiers stalked him, ragged bodies hidden by the shifting fog, rusted swords raised in fleshless fingers… #timetravelauthors

D27. That would be the main antagonist, a quantum physicist called Alan Dent. He's a genius, and he knows it, and he's very happy to display his vast, superior intellect at every opportunity, and many inopportune moments too. #timetravelauthors #timetravel

D25. There are two characters who have travelled in, separately, from different years in the future and got stuck in 1972. Both of them want to get back to their original time periods so they can resume their lives there. I can't promise happy endings for either. 😉 #timetravelauthors #timetravel

Aww thanks. I do enjoy writing snarky banter.

D23. The prudish attitude made Fletcher smile. "Don't they have one night stands where you come from?" "Of course they do,” said Connell, reddening. “I was just–" “Having a brain fart?” “Brain fart?” It was Connell’s turn to smile. “You sound like a Yuppie banker.” #timetravelauthors #timetravel

D21. Most annoying is probably the story's main antagonist, a highly strung scientist with questionable social skills and a habit of blurting things out with little filter. At least, thats how I intended he should come across. He's also happens to be a genius #timetravelauthors #timetravel

D19. Change. Moore bought whisky for them both and changed the subject. “Do you read much, Mister Fletcher?” “Len Deighton and Hunter Thompson. How about you?” “Phil Dick, Frank Herbert and Ray Bradbury. I can't get away from science, even when it's fiction.” #timetravelauthors #timetravel

D17. My MC isn't the kind of guy to have regrets, generally, though there are a couple of instances where he feels he's been unduly harsh with people who are trying to help and finds it necessary to apologise. It's not something he's used to, and he isn't good at it. #timetravelauthors #timetravel

D15. Originally a leather works, the premises were now occupied by a railway logistics business. It readily explained round the clock activities, but it was a facade. Tanner’s Yard, London, N1 housed three domestic security sections, loosely affiliated with MI5. #timetravelauthors #timetravel

Yeah. One of mine is caught with a battery powered torch in the 18th century. The locals think this is witchcraft and accuse him of being a warlock.

Please do. I can't imagine anybody not loving it.

D13. What time travel works (books, films etc), inspired you to write your own time travel story? For me it's "The Anubis Gates" by Tim Powers - the most exciting, imaginative time travel story ever written, in my opinion. Check it out. #timetravelauthors #timetravel
