September is now here, and even though we still have to get past Halloween, the Christmas holidays are starting to enter our consciousness - can you believe mince pies and Christmas puddings are now on the shelves of our supermarkets? And so, in the life of a LEGO® Fan, we start to think about the Winter Holiday Village. After last year's Winter Holiday Train, we have a cozy change of pace with the new 11387 Holiday House, The set is due for release on October 1st. It has 1354 pieces, four minifigures and a horse.

In 2027, we celebrate 20 years since 10182 Cafe Corner was released. This was the first of the Modular buildings - now an ongoing tradition for the January release schedule. The revamped LEGO® Community engagement group - the LEGO® FanColab have announced that in 2027 there will be 22 LEGO Fan Communities coming together to celebreate, by each building one of the modular buildings at 4x (linear) scale. Going from 32x32 to 128x128 studs in size. Each community will be responsible for designing, engineering and constructing its own Modular Building. While the communities will work within shared standards to ensure that when the buildings can come together, they create a cohesive collection, each group will have significant creative freedom to determine how its building comes to life, while maintaining the overall exterior DNA of these iconic buildings.

Here's our first look at October's LEGO® Ideas Release, 21371 Wallace and Gromit. Submitted by Pidelium as part of the 90s Throwback, the Next Chapter Challenge, this set captures the claymation essence of our titular heroes, as seen in A Close Shave. The set consists of two character builds, along with their motorcycle and sidecar, has 1038 pieces, and will go on sale on the first of October 2026. It will be priced at $AUD 149.99/ $USD99.99 USD / 99.99 € / £89.99.

The builds of Jeff Friesen (@jeffworks on Instagram) are familiar to many LEGO Fans on Instagram: he has a certain style in the worlds he creates: whether Spaceships, Cities or Castles, his sense of line and colour is immediately recognizable. In his latest book - Building LEGO® Worlds - Create the Worlds You've Only Imagined (Nostarch Press, released August 2026) - he breaks down his process: from terraforming and landscaping, through to filling your new world with microscale life. The good folks at No Starch Press set a copy over for review:Let's take a closer look.

What a crazy world we live in where we are starting to see 2027 releases revealed in August. For the past 6 years, LEGO Supermario has been focussed on the playable game, with the interactive Brick Character, and buildable friends and enemies with scannable barcodes. Thrdr have been great fun to play with, but many fans of Super MArio have been clamouring for Minifigures scales sets from the outset. Today we are here to tell you that That Time Has Come! The first sets were revealed today at gamescom in Cologne.

In our previous installment, we saw the arrival of organic creature-building elements, incorporating the Creature and Character Building system, along with an animated TV special to provide the backstory in Atlantis. From here, things took off significantly, with the launch of Ninjago in January 2011. But what has this meant for the development of LEGO® Dragons? Or LEGO® Storytelling in general? Read on in our 4th part looking at the development of LEGO® Dragons. Ninjago: Enter the Dragon The System Expands But what about the younger builders? Have we seen some of this before?

It's been a little while since LEGO has a series of Spongebob sets on the shelves, and here we are, presenting a re-release of Spongebob Squarepants Bikini Bottom, set 11386 containing 1794 pieces for AU$349.99/£189.99/US$219.99/€209.99. The original wave of SpongeBob sets ran from 2006-2009, with a few loose bits in 2011 and 2012. Looking at these listings on Bricklink you may notice that this new set is not listed under Spongebob Squarepants! So what is it? Join us as we explore what this new LEGO Icons set presents to us.

This has been a year of many and varied Botanical sets - with different sets covering potted plants, bouquet and event a small chance of woodland. The 11513 Dark Flower Arrangement has just been released. It has has 562 pieces and is priced at $AUD99.99/ USD$59.99 / 59.99€ / £54.99…

I adore the Dark Knight movies, but somehow the Batmobile Tumbler from those films never appealed to me much. I prefer the massive fins and entirely impractical wheel base on the 1980's design, but the military looking Tumbler has its own fanbase, so let's have a look at this set that was gifted by LEGO for us to review. LEGO has released 9 Batmobile Tumblers since 2008, based on various renditions from the Dark Knight trilogy movies. You have plenty of choice when looking for a scale model (or even full sized replica) of this vehicle, so it makes sense that LEGO makes sure there is one available on the shelves most of the time.

I have greatly enjoyed the movie Aladdin when it came out where, as usual, I was most delighted by the sidekicks in the form of Abu the monkey and the Genie. Aladdin was a little bit too much of a diamond (in the rough or not) and princess Jasmine too straight to provide much entertainment value for me. But, Disney Princesses, and Jasmine certainly is a princess, have very high standards to uphold, and have strong fan-bases in the world. It behooves a princess to have some place to store her jewellery so it seems appropriate for LEGO to create a set that combines an iconic scene from the movie of her origin, with the ability to store jewellery.

The LEGO Group releases heaps of cars. Especially in recent years, there is a plethora of cars available in LEGO® form, and some Technic fans have been complaining about this. The LEGO Group gifted us a set of three new LEGO Technic cars that will be released on the 1st of August 2026 (and a Batmobile, which also counts as a car... of sorts - that review will be coming soon). If we have a look at some history of Technic sets that can be qualified as 'car' or 'construction vehicle' we can kind of see why old-fashioned Technic fans may complain.

It was the late 1970's, and Saturday afternoons on commercial TV in Melbourne brought us a selection of science fiction series from the 1960s: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants, The Time Tunnel and Star Trek. They all offered action, excitement and real wild things, but only one of them took us off Earth, and into the wider Galaxy: Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry's original series has spawned many spin-offs, sequel series and movies - in multiple timelines. Last year, the LEGO Group finally got access to licensed Star Trek material, and we saw the debut of the NCC-1701-D - the Federation Flagship from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Being in my 20s in the 1990s and focussing on the start my career, and a path to specialisation, explains why I perhaps missed all of those great 90s Space, Castle themes while I was living through my LEGO® Loving Dark Ages. However, every so often, I needed a break, and the X-Files came along at just the right time. Chris Carter's series focussing on the believer in the supernatural, and his sceptical partner came along at just the right time. The LEGO IDEAS X-Files set was developed by Brisbane based Fan designer Brett Waller as a response to the LEGO Ideas '90s Nostalgia challenge in early 2025.

The LEGO Botanical Collection continues to grow. The Golden Pothos be released on august the first, and we were fortunate to have the LEGO Group send a copy over ahead of its release. The Golden Pothos, also known as Devils Ivy is a native of French Polynesia and is now found in south east Asia, South Africa and Australia. It is easy to grow in low light, and minimal care, making it a popular houseplant. So, how does a model of a low maintenance houseplant translate into LEGO form? The set has 372 parts and has a recommended retail price of…

London’s Tower Bridge is an icon of one of the World’s great cities. While it was visited as a subject for the advanced models range back in 2010, there have been a few new LEGO Modelling techniques adopted in the meantime. Here's your first look at the results of the bridge being visited by the LEGO Architecture team: with 3745 pieces, the model has a span of 89 cm, and the towers are 38cm high. This new LEGO Architecture set 21067 Tower Bridge goes on sale on August 1st, 2026, and has a recommended retail price of 499.99 AUD / 349.99 USD / 299.99 EUR / 269.99 GBP

LEGO® Technic has been dominated a bit by models cars of late (more on this in a review coming soon). In an apparent acknowledgement of the more construction-vehicle heavy origins of Technic, LEGO gifted us an entire box of Mighty Machines, a new series of small Technic sets in the style of collectable minifigs. What’s that I hear you say? Collectable? Small Technic? Yes, indeed, small, collectable and Technic. The series is labelled 'Series 1', hinting at another possible future range. Based on my experience with this set I would loudly applaud this!

My kids were born in the early days of the 21st century. As such, they were the perfect age for SpongeBob SquarePants LEGO® Sets, and a couple of these sets made their way into the house at the appropriate time, particularly from the 2009 wave:3834 Good Neighbours at Bikini Bottom and 3831 Rocket Ride spring to mind. The theme wound up in 2012 with a limited couple of releases including 3818 Bikini Bottom Undersea Party. And then the series was…cancelled? Put on hiatus? Not to return on a regular basis until 2017.

This year has been a huge year for Creature builds in Creator 3in1, with 11 out of 19 Creator 3in1 sets released this years featuring animals of some sort or another. We are about to add another with the 31394 Cute Animals: Red Panda to this list. Due for release on August 1 2026, the models include a Red Panda; an Owl and a Clown Fish. The set has 297 pieces and is priced at $AUD49.99/£24.99/29.99€/$USD29.99. This set was provided by the LEGO Group for review purposes, all opinions are my own.

Where is Midnight Valley, and what is going on there? The LEGO Group has just revealed the first in a new series of collectible building sets, aimed at grown-up builders. Mayor Manor is the first of the Midnight Valley Collection. LEGO ICONS 11383 Mayor Manor has 1420 pieces, three minifigures, a cat, and a mouse. It is priced at $AUD179.99 / $USD119.99 / 109.99€ / £99.99 and will be released on September 1, 2026. At this point, more questions are being raised than answers are being provided. Read on for more...

One of the challenges of earth-based astronomy is the fact that you are on the Earth. You are at the mercy of clouds, dust, atmospheric pollution, and indeed light itself. The Hubble Space Telescope was launched into low Earth Orbit in April 1990 aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery and is expected to remain there until its orbit decays in the mid 2030's. Viewing the visible and near-infrared spectra, the Hubble Space Telescope has enhanced our understanding of the universe over the 36 years it has been active. This week, the LEGO Group has revealed ICONS 11382 The Hubble Space Telescope, a 1252-piece model commemorating the 35th anniversary of the orbital observatory.

LEGO generously gifted us the LEGO 31388 Wild Animals: Family of Koalas, and I'll make it clear right from the top. This is a botanicals set. The name on the box is largely misleading and has derived me of some of the pleasure this box could offer. What's in a name, eh? It makes sense that this largest member of 'Creator 3-in-1 Continents' representing Australia puts the emphasis on the animals, but it does so in name more than in bricks. Speaking of animals, the continent of Australia (Oceania) is represented by two very iconic characters from Down-Under, the koala and kangaroo and is joined by a less specifically down-under creature, the sea turtle.

The Hubble Space Telescope recently ticked over 35 years in space, bringing mindblowing views of the universe back to earth. While it might have the better part of another decade to serve, the LEGO Group are celebrating this landmark by releasing a LEGO ICONS model of the Telescope. LEGO ICONS 11382 Hubble Space Telescope goes on sale on August 1 2026 for 229.99 AUD /139.99 USD / 129.99 EUR / 119.99 GBP. the set has one minfigure and 1252 pieces. I won't go in to too much detail here, as I am currently putting finishing touches to my review, which I will bring to you sometime soon.

"I didn't know Ducati made offroad motorbikes, it's kinda cute!" said my son, an avid rider, when I showed him the latest Technic Motorcycle 42238 Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory (457 pieces, AU$75(?)/£44.99/US$49.99/€49.99). His response is not entirely surprising given that Ducati is most well known for their powerful (and loud) roadbikes. This particular model is a version of Ducati's first motocross bike (not quite the same as 'offroad'). This set was provided by LEGO as part of the latest wave of Technic sets and it stands out as only having two wheels.

E.T. the Extra Terrestrial has not been seen in LEGO Form since 2016's LEGO Dinmensions' minifigure/Funpack. This Ideas submission has been long awaited since it was revealed to be approved in October 2025. Just how well does this set bring us a wrinkly potato of an alien, with a caring expression, and glowing check? The LEGO Group sent a copy of 21370 over for review, ahead of its August 1 release. The set has 1226 pieces and will be priced at $AUD229.99/ $USD139.99 / 129.99€ / £119.99. While this set was sent over by the LEGO Group, all opinions are my own.

For 80's kids (and their kids, we have another appealing Cinematic Character from the studio of Steven Spielberg: Not Jaws, Not Indiana Jones but ET, the Extra Terrestrial. Based on the LEGO Ideas Submission by French designer Lafabrick, LEGO Ideas Set 21370 E.T the Extra Terrestrial will be released on August 1 2026. The set has 1226 pieces and will be priced at $AUD229.99/ $USD139.99 / 129.99€ / £119.99.

Cue the Lion King : "Nants ingonyama bagithi baba / Sithi uhhmm ingonyama", because there is indeed a lion! The mid-sized episode of 'Contintents : Creator 3-in-1 animals' brings us a Lion. A Majestic Lion, apparently, and four of them at that! I really liked the continent themed sets in this wave of Creator 3-in-1 animals, but this feels like a bit of a cop-out. Let's do three African animals, like a lion. 'Oh the secondary build can then be... another lion!'. But wait, 'as a third build we could include 2 lions!'.

Pinball machines can be fun. Full of challenges and, in my hands, just a little bit too unpredictable. The new LEGO ICONS 11374 Arcade Pinball Game sets out to bring us a playable pinball game, full of challenges and loaded with a heartwarming story: can you reunite the new pale blue LEGO Space Explorer with their baby? Is this a brilliant exercise in construction, or is it an expensive alternative to a tabletop toy? The LEGO Group sent a copy over for early review. Somewhere along the way, something didn't work the way it should - so I sat down to troubleshoot it.

When LEGO teased K-Pop demon hunters a little while ago with a blue paw and a flower pot two thoughts went through my head. What about that movie converts well to LEGO sets? And, ooh... the sidekicks, now that would be cool! Cue 72537 Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird, a set with the two main sidekicks containing 825 pieces retailing for AU$119.99/£59.99/US$69.99/€69.99. LEGO generously gifted this set for us to review. LEGO lends itself well to vehicles and buildings (for example, see One Piece sets) but K-Pop Demon Hunters is entirely character driven with very few memorable 'things'.

Pirates have been a core theme for LEGO® play since their debut in 1989. Like the other classic playthemes such as Space and Castle, Pirate themed sets have been dominated by licensed properties such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Once Piecen in recent years . Despite this increased commercialization on the store shelf, classic themes remain core zones in the LEGOLAND THEME PARKS- and core memories for many people of a certain age. This is where Creator 3in1 steps in, bringing multi-build models that serve to fill the gaps that are no longer truly represented by in-house themes, not only covering the hero build of the theme, but often include alternate builds that also fit 'in world.'

Pinball machines have always intrigued me - the challenge of keeping the ball in play, trying to workout the powerups and bonuses. When I was younger this was generally limited to the one of day a year that we had takeaway fish and chips while on a beach holiday. At 20 cents per play, they were worth almost a week's pocket money at the time. Smaller versions were built to appeal to the home play market - often including the flashing lights and bumpers of the full size arcade versions - all painted up with some retro colour scheme or pattern.

Welcome to part three in our series examining the evolution of LEGO® Dragons. In Part One, we looked at the development of the classic LEGO Dragon from 1992. In Part Two we followed the evolution of premoulded dragons, and examined the Legacy of Galidor in LEGO Creature design. Today, we are taking a look at the development of brick-built dragons, and the years where LEGO Bricks began to extend beyond the standard rectangular brick.

The Sagrada Família has been under construction for over 140 years. Surely close to a record for contemporary cathedral construction. The church was the vision of architect and designer, Antoni Gaudí, who passed away 100 years ago this year. Today, The LEGO Group reveal their largest set yet (by part count): a brick built version of the Sagreda Família. It will be released on November 1, but will be available for preorder from today. Set 21065 LEGO Architecture: The Sagrada Família is priced at $AUD1299.99 / £649.99/ €749.99/ $USD799.99 and has 12060 pieces.

The First LEGO Pokemon sets to have been released were large playsets, Primarily aimed at adult collectors (probably those who specifically grew up with Pokemon in the 90s and early 00s. Today, the LEGO Group have revealed 10 sets for release in August (preorder now!). These are very much play sets, aimed at kids from 6 years and up. The sets incorporate Smart Play - Two sets include smart bricks and tags, while the rest of the sets are equipped with the smart tage. Great news: Already have a Smart Brick from Star Wars?

The Cosmos Flowers riff on LEGO Botanicals Daisy bouquet released earlier this year. With a few flowers and some lavender like blooms, you could almost suspect it of trying to be a copy of this earlier set. I suspect we will learn that this is not the case. The set is aimed at builders aged 9 and up, has 177 pieces and will be priced at $AUD24.99 / 14.99€ / $USD14.99 /£12.99. The LEGO Group sent this set over for an early review.Let’s take a closer look.

It's been a while since we have had a game to review here on the Rambling Brick. Thanks to the LEGO Group for organising a digital copy of TT Games' LEGO® Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight to review. I passed it onto our in-house games reviewer, Harry. Read on for more...

The Botanicals range continues to diversify in 2026 and 11505 Woodland Mushrooms is one of their most original display pieces yet. In the past we have seen bouquets, large and small potted plants, hanging arrangements, dried flower arrangements and bonsai trees. This set is a little different: imagine digging up an improbably diverse patch of soil from the woods. On it grows a collection of mushrooms, on a mossy bed, along with some Autumn Crocus, moss and bracken. This is the first botanical set to explore a biome rather than something manicured for domestic display.

Every so often, we get a set or two that lines up specifically with sights from Disneyland Parks: the iconic Castle (at least twice so far), a railway, the occasional random ride (Haunted Mansion, I'm looking at you). Today, the LEGO group has revealed the latest in this series: LEGO®|Disney Main Street, U.S.A. This set has 3899 pieces and features 15 minfigures. It will be priced at $AUD549.99 / £319.99 / €349.99 / $399.99 and will go on sale in June 2026, in time to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the park's landmark locale.

It is a property of ABS and other plastics that they will undergo photooxidative degradation - the materials will yellow with age, particularly in response to ultraviolet light. In 2025, the LEGO Group introduced a new white pigment in selected sets. This colour, referred to as 426 White V3 is more opaque than the 1 White that has otherwise been in use since LEGO® Bricks started to be coloured by adding pigment to raw ABS stock in the early 2000s. Given the relative opacity to 1White, I wondered if there might be a difference in the yellowing exhibited by these elements after prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Snoopy and the Peanuts gang have been around for over 75 years now. I probably first met his special brand of homespun philosophy, and flights of imagination through the comic strips in the newspapers in the mid 70s. Towards the end of the decade, we started to pick up the books (paperback, novel format) containing collected strips anytime we went on holiday. There have been many Snoopy submissions to LEGO Ideas, but Snoopy - Campfire by @bossofdos64 reach the full 1000 supporters. He has submitted multiple Snoopy MOCs based on many of the characters Snoopy has adopted over the years: the Novelist, sleeping on the doghouse, hockey player, Joe Cool and surfer.

It was December 27, 2001. The Knoller in Chief and I went to the movies to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary, as well as to enjoy a quiet night out with our two young children. It is hard to believe that this is now 25 years ago. Over the next few years, our wedding anniversary would be recognised as a chance to get out of the house together and catch up with the latest cinematic sage being released in the post Christmas period. We had both grown up with the Lord of the Rings and seeing the story translated into film was a defining moment in popculture for us both.

Last year, the LEGO® Botanical theme gave us 10349 Happy Plants, anthropomorphic potplants with a whimsical grin and a green hairstyle. Botanicals has been one of the big successes in the LEGO portfolio over the past few years, bringing new people to LEGO building, and bringing others back after a many-year gap. Happy Plants was one of those sets that was relatively inexpensive, simple to build, and brought a delightful end result to the display space. Knowing that when you are on a good thing, stick to it, it would appear that "Plants in small, whimsical smiling pots" is becoming a subtheme of Botanicals with the upcoming release of 11506 Rocking Plants.

With the cinematic release of The Mandalorian and Grogu just around the corner, this year's May the Fourth release is the Ultimate Collector just around the corner, we are seeing the Mandalorian's Naboo N1 Star Fighter given the Ultimate Collector Series Treatment. With a load of Silver laquer elements, The LEGO Star Wars™ The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter™ (75442) set will be available for LEGO Insiders* Early Access from 1 May 2026, and available for all from 4 May, priced at $AUD429.99 / £229.99 / €249.99 / $249.99.

It's been a couple of years since we have had a set of collectable minifigures to review here on the blog. In CMF series 29, we have have a set of 12 different minifigures. The LEGO Group sent a couple of sets over for early review. This is not themed like series 26 (Space) or 28 (costumes), or any of the licensed themes we have seen over the years. Instead, it's a mix of classic and crazy characters, some based on existing themes, and some that are just plain crazy.

Geopolitical instability in the Middle East is threatening the supply chain of the petrochemical precursors to Acetyle-Butyl-Styrene, the primary plastic used in the creation of LEGO® Bricks. With the potential shortage of physical bricks, the LEGO Group have fast-tracked the beta testing phase of their new digital building tool, LEGO Builder Virtual. An unladen oil tanker in more certain times “We were not anticipating this supply problem to become significant until 2035, which is why we had accelerated our approach to developing sustainable plastics in recent years. The current situation has caught us short, with crude oil deliveries already slowing around the world." up and coming digital luminary April Løjer explained from the LEGO Group's new Digital Hub in Copenhagen…

LEGO ICONs appears to be on a roll with its collection of large-scale aircraft. In 2023 we saw the 10318 Concorde, and last year we gained the 10360 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft - a combination 747 and Space Shuttle. This April, athe 11378 DC-3 Pan American Airliner is being released. Introduced in the 1930s, the DC-3 was the first airliner to be able to cross the continental United States in only 18 hours, with 3 stops. Carrying up to 36 passengers, it had a top speed of 333km/h. The DC-3 was in production until 1942.

The LEGO Group's Deep Fandom Team is calling on the wider LEGO® community provide some opinions about the role LEGO Plays in you life, and how you engage with the company and the bricks! "At the LEGO Group, the best part of what we do is the community that builds alongside us. We’re exploring new ways to really listen to you, and your feedback is a vital piece of the puzzle.

It's been a few months since the last Nike release, and today the classic Nike Air Max 95 has been officially revealed in brick-built form. With 1213 pieces and one minifigfure and priced at $AUD149.99 / $USD99.99 / 99.99€ / £89.99, the set will be released on March 28 2026. To my eyes, it appears to be one of the more interesting Nike Shoe releases to daye - particular;ly when considering the different shades and textures featurerd in the model.
