Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Is a business/income tax cut ‘recurrent expenditure’…? If we aren’t going to leave it in the ground - that horse has bolted - tax it! Sounds like a very nice problem to have. Better than not-nice problems. And the tax = meth addict argument is weird to say the least. 010
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 01/10/2026This is the part I keep coming back to. Experience stated, not inferred. 010
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 30/09/20261000 people spending $1 less per month should be the same as 1 person spending $1000 less. 000
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The dyslexic spoonerism generator in my head always laughs when it hears “stochastic parrot”. 000
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Moving it a couple of years away is still a couple of years later than now. But that is just the obvious tail of the distribution, not the bulk of it. 000
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The whole point is that the intended effect is about the economy-wide aggregate, rather than individual changes. Socialise the pain, rather concentrate it on the most vulnerable. 110
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Exactly. It is utterly regressive. Moderating super contributions is the opposite. 100
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The other beauty of using super rather than interest is that it absorbs *the most liquid* money of all - salaries - from those who have them! Raised interest rates absorbs savings in offsets, forces liquidation of shares, and causes job losses. Newly unemployed ppl still have mortgages! 010
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Well, they don’t. The cost of funds for banks increases too. The money eventually flows to bond holders, depositors, and institutional investors (like super funds!) The whole idea is that those things move slowly. Hence why using super-contributions as a direct lever should work just as well. 010
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 30/09/2026And it doesn’t destroy capital and wealth. It builds, defers and redirects it to something productive. 211
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Fully agree with the superannuation lever. Paid for by those who can afford it, and reduces the discretionary spend of those who do the most of it! 110
Reposted by RambeauxGreg Jericho @grogsgamut.bsky.social · 29/09/2026A reminder that this year the unemployment rate has gone up 0.56%pts - roughly an extra 87,000 unemployed. So in 15 min when the RBA raises rates again just remember 35-44yos on Jobseeker are almost 10 times more likely to die than those not on welfare: www.theguardian.com/business/gro... 7274125

Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 23/04/2026Similar to the level of thinking selector - I think there needs to be a mode/alignment selector: 4.6 like for planning 4.7 like for execution 010
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 23/04/2026It's a bit like a question I need to ask when someone I know has a problem: "Do you want empathy or a solution?" There is a time and place for both! 120
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 23/04/2026It is absolutely cooked. Even while running on xHigh it is totally unreliable, maliciously pedantic and lazy. The patterns seems to be that it doesn't understand basic SDLC concepts, the concept of time, or its own role as an LLM/agent. 000
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 23/04/2026I would say Opus 4.7 no longer understand the Software Dev Lifecycle - but I'd go further to say it no longer understands what the order of operations are in relation to real-world time. 000
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 23/04/2026These will need to be extracted, but it should not be necessary. Opus 4.6 understood its role, and got on with it. 4.7 feels like I have to get lawyers in to negotiate on what is or is not a valid specification while the LLM just shouts "YAGNI" and sits down for a cup of tea. 000
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 23/04/2026More Opus 4.7 thoughts: I have found myself bloating my app-specific guidelines with rules that are aimed at getting the LLM to do its job, rather than understanding my app. Eg: "Do not refuse to develop a feature because there is not yet a consumer of that feature." 230
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 22/04/2026Exhibit A: Claude Opus 4.7 is very keen to protect user's data from being harmed by speccing an app that we haven't even begun building yet. 000
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 22/04/2026That laser focus thing... There's 10 things on the todo list. I say I like 2 related suggestions. We now have 2 items on the todo list, rather than 12... 110
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 22/04/2026Silver lining is that I've re-incorporated Codex into my workflow and it is like having Opus 4.6 back! It just gets it's role. 4.7 (on low effort tbh) just doesn't seem to know who it is, or the role I play vs the future users of the system. "Creating specs isn't a good UX" kinda vibes. WTF!? 110
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 22/04/2026Burnt through 70% of my limit in the first 2 days with no change in workflow, just using high. Down to low / med and it is a dumpster fire conversationally. 4.6 on medium was perfect. 210
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 22/04/2026And now, Opus 4.7 has just flagged a discussion about business funding strategy as being potentially harmful and ended the chat. What on earth?? 000
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 22/04/2026Anther example of Opus 4.7 going to shit. It is struggling to distinguish basic scopes of user interaction. It confuses our requirements as a developer/agent pair with that of the eventual post-deployment user of the system. I have to explain the difference... We haven't built it yet, Claude! 🫠 210
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 21/04/2026My thoughts on Opus 4.7: Obviously brilliant at architecture, planning and coding. However, when it comes to understanding intent and reading between the lines conversationally, it is from another planet. Always getting wires crossed. Feels like a huge backward step from 4.6. 210
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 17/03/2026Awesome. Regarding predictiveness: Reckon you'd need to hook into supply chain OSINT sources. I don't know those sources - just sayin'! I assume there is translation of original-language sources in this too? 110
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 17/03/2026OMG. I’m tempted to create onboarding and help documentation in this form! 021
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 07/03/2026Oh I get the *usefulness* of the exercise - I do this all the time! It just strayed into over-anthropomorphising territory with gotchas and ‘Claude admits’… Claude admitted nothing. Its like getting the ocean to admit it drowned someone. 110
Rambeaux @rambeaux.bsky.social · 07/03/2026I really don’t understand why you think asking Claude these questions is meaningful. It is just summarising the news sources it found. There is nothing *in* Claude’s models that knows anything about these policies or events that happened after it’s training data, and would be excluded anyway. 110
