Oh and for Ubuntu, the LTS version, which stands for Long Term Support, is probably the better one to go with to avoid any weird software bugs. If you have super new hardware then you can try the latest version they have which isn’t LTS, but eventually all updates get put in to the LTS version later

Installing to a separate drive is preferred, but if you only have the one drive available then I would look in to how to partition your drive without accidentally deleting data. There is plenty of documentation on both of these distributions, plus videos on YouTube. Back up your data first!

For my personal preference I have been using Bazzite, which is based on Fedora. It is made more for gaming so it comes with the latest kernel and drivers to support more hardware, plus some other tweaks in the background. It is also made to specifically avoid bricking if it fails somewhere. :)

Good starter ones to try are Ubuntu, or any variants of it. I’m personally a fan of the KDE interface over GNOME so I would look at those both and see what you prefer. Plenty of software support the .deb install method, and there is also Flatpaks and Snaps which are one click install from a store.

It’s stuff like that, plus clicking shut down only for the pc to reboot, which just made me ditch Windows again for Linux. Thankfully it works for my usage in terms of what I do and play.

Windows 11 requirements are so baffling to me because there were so many good computers that were left behind at launch, and yet this POS I use at work with a crappy CPU and 4GB of RAM was apparently perfectly fine to upgrade and fill up with so much AI bullshit.

In Brighton it was super busy, and I didn’t realise that they had pride on that weekend. We didn’t see much of it but people were dressed up fabulous. We went to a fan Sanrio cafe themed around My Melody and Kuromi which was really nice, and then went to Daiu for bbq and hotpot. It was so good…

In London I just went around Hyde Park and got to see the flower garden there, see a bunch of birds, had some good cheap food in Chinatown, and I also visited the Design Museum which had a Wes Anderson exhibition on. It was amazing to view and we got in for pretty cheap too thanks to the friend.

Didn’t really write up about it on here, but my birthday week I booked it off from work to just chill and play a lot of Palworld. On the weekend I went with a friend over to London and Brighton and had a pretty fun time overall!
