This tiny lizard (Zootoca vivipara) was basking in the morning sun 🌞. Thankfully, it let me get very close to it to snap some shots #macrophotography #reptile #naturelovers #lizard #lakedistrict

I have seen more emperor dragonflies (Anax imperator) this year than in all my previous years combined 😍. I wonder if this is recency bias or whether they're having a bumper year? #macrophotography #backyardnature #odonata #dragonfly #entomology #insectweek #ecology #anaximperator

I have always wanted to see a sleeping or resting bee 😴. It happened last year; this red-thighed epeolus (Epeolus cruciger) landed next to me in the middle of the day, clamped down on a scabious flower and went to rest for a few minutes #entomology #macrophotography #epeoluscruciger #backyardnature

I'm giving #bluesky a try in order to share my enthusiasm for nature. I'll start with a group of critters that first made me take notice of nature, the butterflies! This is a Balkan marbled white (Melanargia larissa) 🦋 #macrophotography #melanargialarissa #lepidoptera #butterflies #entomology
