But if you type in 888 into the microwave it counts down 878, 877, 876, etc. implying there are 888 seconds, or 14 minutes. When it gets to 800 though, the next number is 7:59, not 799 and now the cook time is 7 minutes.

Ok so how come when I type 888 (seconds) into my microwave (which should be ~14min) at 800 it converts it to 7:59 (minutes)? How does the microwave know when to count down from (#)00 and went to convert it to seconds? Am I stupid? (Yes I’m high)
