Oh, shit, Knuckle Jet is out! The folks at Rain Games are great and I'm always super excited to check out their stuff, this one has been on my radar for a while and looks like a real fun level-based action platformer!

Well that turned out even better than expected, and my expectations were already high. @raingames.bsky.social's Knuckle Jet is one of the best 2D(ish) action platformers I've played in years. hardcoregamer.com/review-knuck...

Review: Knuckle Jet

With five worlds of over a dozen levels apiece, Knuckle Jet brings with it a great amount of platforming action, always fast paced and responsive.

If i need a 3d model of something reasonably flat and thin i'll usually just cheat it by stacking 2 or 3 copies of the same texture with alpha clipping. Ps3 era games did this a lot (the railings in the batman arkham games being my favourite example)

First test for dialogue portraits in knuckle jet (we eventually abandoned action figures in favor of paper dolls glued onto lollipop sticks since it allowed for changing expressions by flipping the stick, compared to the rigid nature of limited articulation toys)

highly spesific gamedev tip: when it comes to avoiding moire patterns in high frequency textures, such as this print dot pattern, at variable resolutions, if you have a fairly predictable camera distance range, your best bet is to bake a blurred version overlayed onto the texture
