I've been seeing the sentiment lately of artists committing to making weirder, more self-indulgent art and I love it

Did some gift art for a friend of a friend last summer. I still really like how it turned out 💙❤️

Image description: a canvas of navy blue darkens towards the edges in a vignette. This is the background behind a genshin impact character (Chongyun) that floats in the center. He holds out his hand and a Master Ball floats above it (a trick some Psychic type Pokémon trainers are known to achieve). Dark Lugia swoops diagonally across the frame just behind him.

Did you ever experience finding an artist when you were just starting out and their works are GOD TIER, then years pass by and somehow?? they get EVEN BETTER?? Like, DUH it gets better the more you draw, but HOW was that possible when their art was already perfect but SOMEHOW??
