While true I think the homogenization of every job into basically slight variants of a 2 minute rotation for DPS has harmed XIV in the last few expansions in terms of really feeling like your job brings something _nice_ to the table even if the DPS isn't as good as the top.

If you have a way to learn more about it you should go look at how the Paladin discord just exploded and shut themselves down when for the first time in awhile a Paladin spec was performing worse (still viable) than many DPS specs. It's wild.

@spaceyeen.bsky.social Completely random and out of the blue, but catching up on your Faith stream from few days prior; the cross with the weird 'thou shalt not kill' placement I think would read that way if you did the cross gesture. I'm not catholic so I don't know, but COMPLETE random message. :3

I think the most annoying part is that everyone and their mother is just using Bury the Light for their combo videos and it's like, bro, it can't compare to the og vids, get over yourself.

Article and headline is mostly clickbait, actual presentation is much more nuanced than a gen ai machine (it does sound like they intend on leveraging agentic coding all the same)

A lot of people assume FA is profitable. If that were the case we wouldn't have needed a GFM when Neer passed to keep it out of probate. It's been two years. The funds were used. FA is struggling financially. And I am 🌟s t r e s s e d🌟 I'm scared to ask for help, I feel like no matter how much-

Bully in D tier surprised me because I deeply enjoyed it and thought you did too. It did come out during a pretty impressionable part of my life and I have some really strong memories of watching that while I was ugly crying over a breakup and eating takeout in the winter.

Not having played control to make the comparison, but my 2c is that the game naturally shows you very early that the stagger mechanic exists and you're likely able to capitalize it, to where you can decide 'do I want to play into a comp that maxes stagger' with Tifa, or just blow it up with aerith

So far my partner has always complained about Catania. Her growths are awful and she's not great. He did just get the Pegasus class for her so maybe she's a late bloomer but so many others like Guzran or Io are much better.

Locke introduced me to another eidos and I am shocked there's not more porn of their cast. Despite how absolutely horny that game is, and how there's a lot of furries for everyone.

I really want to play this game myself, but I have a huge fear of needles. No luck on any sort of removal of that in the options by chance?

I think some folks want more of the original game design of an MMO, without jumping into the treadmill box of modern MMOs. Also with modern QoL and graphics.

I kind of saw it, given precedent. The more popular WoW and EQ private servers are 'Classic+', OSRS is a snapshot between original runescape and before RS's major evolution of combat, and when Blizzard shut down Nostralius it was just before WoW Classic, and they just shut down big classic+ servers.

adding to OP's note: if you're taking on more comms because you're strapped for money, but still owe work, you'll sabotage yourself VERY quickly whatever short-term income you get is not worth the huge hit to your reputation and long-term income ask for donos instead, OR at the very least

Holy light is one of my mystic's favorite spells. Hits like a massive truck. Does a whole shining finger bit and does the yu yu hakusho spirit gun thing, blows his finger after. Insanely good spell that wallops the dead.

I never finished dark cloud for one reason or the other. I got close, but I remember hearing about the notorious final boss or secret bosses (I think?). I love it dearly, for many of its charms, but there's a lot in that game that is the worst parts of the mystery dungeon genre.

I remember all the MMOs that were like 'Yeah we're BETTER than WoW, we'll be the WoW killer!' -- and eventually most of them died even though the game had a potential to be great but their entire foundation was 'We're gonna take on WoW'.

Some conversations are just so awful because people are bringing back the blanket 'this is religion therefore bad' thing we dealt with in the Internet 15 years ago. I thought we buried that and have moved to healing and unity in the face of far-right conservatism. I can't believe it.

I am working on Pathfinder rulebooks, a lore/setting book, and a novel that tackles both lived and historical Indonesian experiences of colonization. Its a setting that simultaneously highlights the horrors of Earth and the love that can shine through it. What happened here is frightening to me.

I didn't dismiss yours at all with my statement. Your anger is justified and justifiable. But blanket-statement dismissing everyone else's interactions, lived experiences, and growths with faiths is the weapon of the enemy.

Rainwhisker @rainwhisker.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

Are we really doing this? This is the stupid BS I had to contend online 15 years ago when anti-faith sentiments were bashing people's experiences. The world got better as we lost that when religious/faith institutions started to reinterpret/change orthodoxy to welcome queer folk. Are we regressing?

The gameplay was super satisfying. I don't think the story was all that impressive, but I was under the impression that it takes a back seat in these games. That said, the weird cultishness of the fandom always weirded me out, but maybe it's the equivalent of ppl w/ favorite band shirts?

Rainwhisker @rainwhisker.bsky.social · 15/08/2026

Honestly one part of why I wanted to play tda is because the premise of their setting. Doom (the original) and all the fanon, and 06 takes on futuristic heaven v. Hell and humanity in the middle, Plus the art design, inspires a lot of my writing.

100

Rainwhisker @rainwhisker.bsky.social · 15/08/2026

As someone who never did play 06 or it's sequel I think dark ages was a fair 7 out of 10. I don't think it is a game I'd really go back to; the game plan was fun but I had it solved since the first few chapters with a perfect block and the nail gun upgrade that deletes everything.

Rainwhisker @rainwhisker.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

Happens surprisingly more often (and historically true) than I originally thought, FFXI on modern windows has a lot of microstutter issues that are often solved by removing the PS4/PS5 controller because it keeps re-checking for some USB devices or audio devices.
