About the opportunity The Faculty of Engineering at The University of Sydney (Sydney, Australia) invites applications for several academic positions at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Associate Professor (Level B-D) across our Engineering schools. We are seeking academics whose research engages with AI including, but not limited to: LEVERAGE AI: Use AI to advance research, discovery, engineering practice, design, computation, education and other fields — applying AI to new problems and unlocking new possibilities. UNDERSTAND AI: Investigate how AI works, from its mathematical, computational and engineering foundations to its capabilities, limitations, behaviour, impacts and implications. BUILD AI: Develop the next generation of AI methods, models, systems, tools and technologies, and the engineering and computational foundations that enable them. We welcome researchers whose connection to AI is established today, as well as those who can articulate how AI will shape their current or future research. Our Engineering Schools School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering School of Biomedical Engineering School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering School of Civil Engineering School of Computer Science School of Electrical and Computer Engineering School of Project Management All positions are full-time, continuing (tenure-track), teaching and research roles based in Sydney. Successful applicants will have an excellent research track record, a commitment to high-quality teaching with the ability to teach in a range of courses, and a vision for how AI can advance research, education and practice across their field. The role offers strong opportunities for collaboration with world-class researchers and University key partners, including the Sydney Biomedical Accelerator, as well as opportunities to develop new interdisciplinary collaborations across the University. You will develop an independent research program and engage in collaborations within and outside the University, including with industry partners. You will contribute to curriculum development and delivery at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contribute to leadership of the School/Faculty.
